The Navy withdrew, and the pirates were all delighted. Now it was the ship doctors' turn to get to work. They moved among the wounded pirates, bandaging their injuries, while the healthy crew members buried those who had died in battle right where they fell. It was the least they could do for them.
Once everything had been taken care of, it was almost night. The two pirate crews gathered around a bonfire, singing, dancing, drinking, and eating.
Even someone as shy as Shirakawa was caught up in the atmosphere and joined the crew in singing and dancing. He even sang them a song from his Past Life. They couldn't understand the lyrics, but music transcended worlds, and they could still tell whether it sounded good or bad.
"Shirakawa, I've never heard that song before, but I'm sure that wasn't the tune you were supposed to sing. You were completely off-key."
Watching Shirakawa try to carry on singing, Shanks couldn't take it anymore and mocked him.
At Shanks's words, Shirakawa blushed. He couldn't tell whether it was from embarrassment or the firelight, but his expression soon returned to normal.
"Fine, I'll stop. You sing, then." Shirakawa knew his own limits. Being tone-deaf was a talent he'd been born with. As long as his soul stayed the same, so would that talent.
If he wasn't as good as someone else at something, he had to admit it instead of making excuses. That also helped the crew realize Shirakawa wasn't perfect. He might have more talent for training than they did, but when it came to singing, even ten Shirakawas wouldn't stand a chance against them.
Ten Shirakawas would only make the song sound even more chaotic.
