The old man didn't comment further on the matter. Instead, he said,
"We're almost there. How should we approach? If the six Golden Flood Dragons lead the way, it might look like we're flaunting our strength. Perhaps we should go on foot?"
But Yun Qiyao replied at once,
"No need. We'll go like this. As the Imperial Eldest Daughter of the Demon Race, I can't lose face in front of the humans. Besides, this is an equal transaction between both sides. Whatever this High Immortal needs, I'll provide. A fair deal doesn't require me to grovel and beg pitifully."
The old man paused, looking a little confused.
"But an immortal of this caliber may already have no wants or desires."
Yun Qiyao gave a scornful laugh.
"There's no such thing as a person with no wants or desires in this world, even if he's a High Immortal from the Upper Realm. And this immortal is so powerful. You say he's living in seclusion, yet he chose a place that's about to host the Myriad Sect Grand Ceremony. Don't you find that suspicious?"
"He must be after something in this Lower Realm. And as long as it's in the Lower Realm, there's nothing the Demon Race can't get its hands on."
Then Yun Qiyao lifted her chin slightly.
"Tell them up ahead: we're going like this, and just before we reach the Divine Sword Sect, all six Golden Flood Dragons are to let out a Dragon Roar. Tell the Divine Sword Sect that I, the princess, have arrived!"
The old man behind Yun Qiyao said no more and darted ahead to pass on the order.
At the same time, Jing Pu was playing Ping Pong with Ling Ju, the two of them trading shots back and forth.
About half a month earlier, Jing Pu had suddenly gotten the urge to play Ping Pong. It had come out of the blue, while he was tidying up and happened to find the pill You He had handed him that day.
The pill had a faint black sheen, and the moment Jing Pu held it in his palm, he thought it looked a little like a Ping Pong ball.
So Jing Pu promptly built a Ping Pong table, made two paddles, and used the pill as the ball. Whenever they had nothing else to do, he and Ling Ju would play a few rounds.
Ping Pong had been the national sport in Jing Pu's previous life, and he'd played it every day. The education authorities in his past life had pulled plenty of ridiculous stunts. If someone twisted an ankle or got hurt playing basketball, for example, the school would seal off the hoops. There had been plenty of such cases of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
In the end, that had left Ping Pong as the only sport students could play safely. Jing Pu had played it ever since he was a kid.
"Great Vajra Heavenly Dragon!!"
With a thunderous shout, Jing Pu smashed the ball and scored the winning point. He looked rather pleased as he watched Ling Jing and Lie Chun applaud him, both of them wearing amazed expressions.
Honestly, shouting during a winning shot was a little embarrassing. But Jing Pu had always envied cultivators who shouted the names of their skills as they unleashed them. He thought it looked cool.
He knew he had no chance of cultivating, so he was just living out that fantasy on the Ping Pong court.
Ling Jing and Lie Chun, standing nearby, watched Jing Pu with itchy hands and asked impatiently,
"Senior, it's our turn now, right?"
Jing Pu had no problem with that. But as he let out a long breath and handed the paddle to Lie Chun, he still frowned and warned them,
"Let me make this clear first: don't get worked up while you're playing. If you start getting worked up and use Spiritual Power or True Qi to hit the ball, don't come back here next time!"
Ever since Jing Pu and Ling Ju had started playing Ping Pong, Ling Jing and Lie Chun had been extremely interested in it.
They were itching to play several rounds every day. The trouble was, they shared one trait: both of them were fiercely competitive. Sooner or later, they'd start using Spiritual Power and True Qi to hit the ball.
Then one of them would unleash a winning shot, and the other wouldn't catch it. The ball would fly off and either smash through Jing Pu's courtyard wall or bring down his pavilion.
Lie Chun and Ling Ju both looked embarrassed as they listened to Jing Pu and nodded repeatedly.
After setting the ball and paddles on the table, Ling Ju glided over to the side to pour Jing Pu some tea.
Ling Jing and Lie Chun picked up their paddles and immediately threw themselves into the match.
All the words they shouted were ones Jing Pu had tossed out casually over the past few days.
Things like "Great Vajra Heavenly Dragon," "Black Tiger Steals Heart," and "Six Meridian Divine Sword"—whatever happened to pop into Jing Pu's head, he'd say it.
Honestly, when Jing Pu said those things himself, they hadn't seemed that embarrassing. But hearing someone else shout them suddenly made his sense of shame skyrocket.
Ling Ju brought over a cup of tea and handed it to Jing Pu with a smile.
"Senior's technique really is incredible. I only managed to win one point against you."
Ling Ju had actually gotten that point because Jing Pu let her. After all, there was an unwritten rule in Ping Pong: you weren't supposed to leave your opponent with a goose egg.
Jing Pu smiled and took the tea, but before he could say anything, a series of enormous Dragon Roars suddenly rang out from the distant sky, echoing across the heavens and throughout the entire Divine Sword Sect.
As soon as the Dragon Roars rang out, everyone in the courtyard frowned and turned toward the source of the sound.
Jing Pu didn't think much of it. With the Myriad Sect Grand Ceremony drawing closer, more and more people were arriving for it.
Every sect that came to the Divine Sword Sect made some kind of noise to announce its arrival. But this was the first time Jing Pu had heard such a thunderous Dragon Roar. Judging by the sound, someone important had arrived.
But just then, an immensely powerful Dragon Roar burst from the back courtyard, answering it with overwhelming force!!
The roar from the back courtyard cut off the several roars in the distant sky. It was even more imposing and pure, and it shook the soul.
Beside that pure, domineering Dragon Roar, the roars in the distance sounded like helpless little babes still suckling at their mothers' breasts.
The moment the roar rang out, even the surrounding space seemed to twist, rippling in waves.
But Jing Pu came to his senses and immediately shouted toward the back courtyard,
"Stop roaring!"
At Jing Pu's words, the Dragon Roar from the back courtyard fell silent. It had come from his Dragon Horse.
Jing Pu didn't know why, but his Dragon Horse kept becoming more and more dragonlike. Its entire body was covered in Dragon Scales now, and its hooves had turned into claws. It was looking more and more mighty.
Usually, Jing Pu's Dragon Horse was very quiet. He had no idea why it had suddenly started roaring today.
He wondered if it was like a wolf, unable to resist answering when it heard the call of its own kind.
But Jing Pu didn't dwell on it. Instead, he looked at Lie Chun and Ling Jing, who were staring blankly ahead, and said,
"Keep playing. What are you staring at?"
Meanwhile, the sky outside the Divine Sword Sect had descended into utter chaos.
The six Golden Flood Dragons were frantically trying to flee, while the Demon Race's people struggled to calm them down.
On the golden flying ship, Yun Qiyao stared in utter disbelief at the rippling space. Her heart pounded with terror.
That was... the voice of a True Dragon?!!
