Background / History
Ling Ju is the Holy Maiden of the Jade Pool Holy Land and a legitimate princess of the Bei Lan Dynasty. Renowned as the most beautiful person in the Northern Province, she spent a year cultivating at the Jade Pool Holy Land before accompanying her younger brother, Ling Jing, on his supposed hunt for a Golden Core demonic beast. The siblings become lost in the Blazing Dynasty and encounter Jing Pu, whom they initially mistake for a Spirit Transformation expert calling himself “Changshan Zhao Zilong.” 10 11
She acts as Ling Jing's principal guardian outside the imperial court. Aware that he is the dynasty's only legitimate prince and future emperor, she is strict about his conduct and cultivation; she initially believes Jing Pu is wasting Ling Jing's potential by having him dig and hoe the courtyard. 19 20
After meeting Jing Pu personally and witnessing the effect of his painting, Ling Ju concludes that she misjudged him. She apologizes, asks him to continue keeping Ling Jing at his residence, and offers her Dragon Heart Soft Armor in apology. 21 22 23
Ling Ju subsequently joins Ling Jing and Lie Chun at Jing Pu's courtyard. What Jing Pu considers ordinary chores and lessons become cultivation opportunities for her: his meditation cushion, palace fan, calligraphy, Tea Dao, and spiritually rich surroundings rapidly push her cultivation forward. 24 27 28 40 42
Appearance
Ling Ju is an exceptionally beautiful woman whose bearing is repeatedly compared to that of a celestial maiden. She is described as the most beautiful person in the Northern Province. 10
- Usually wears white robes and is surrounded by a hazy white glow. 10
- Has waist-length, ink-black hair and clear, shimmering eyes. 33 39
- Wears crystal high-heeled jade shoes and, at times, a plain outfit with golden earrings. 26 28
- Uses a moon-white veil in Qinghe Town to avoid attention, though her demeanor remains conspicuous. 39
Personality
Ling Ju is naturally cold, restrained, and sparing with words around most people. She dislikes needless arguments and holds herself to the responsibilities of both a holy maiden and an imperial princess. 20 44
Her sternness is most apparent in her treatment of Ling Jing: she reprimands him for irresponsibility, fears the consequences of his neglecting his future duties, and attempts to keep him disciplined. 10 19 20
Around Jing Pu, Ling Ju becomes markedly more open, shy, and attentive. She deeply respects his perceived status and generosity, eagerly accepts his instruction, and ultimately chooses to delay her own Nascent Soul breakthrough rather than spend a month in seclusion away from him. 27 28 42 50
She is also fiercely protective of Jing Pu's peace. When she believes news of his healing Yun Qiyao could draw countless requests for aid, she threatens the Cloud Monster Royal Family's representative into secrecy. 48 49
