Background / History

Tang Chen was the Clear Sky Sect's former sect master and Tang Hao's father. After leaving the sect to travel the Douluo Continent, he accepted the Asura God's inheritance in Slaughter City. The ancient Nine-Headed Bat King subsequently controlled his consciousness, leading to his identity as the King of Slaughter. 14

While ruling Slaughter City, Tang Chen was consumed by rage toward the person who poisoned and destroyed the city. Chaos Qi forcibly erased the resisting Asura Divine Power within him and drew him into the Chaos Realm as one of the Chaos God Assessment's participants. 2

His first assessment reward, Sea God's Light, awakened the consciousness that had been eroded by the Nine-Headed Bat King. It also severed the Asura God King's control over him, ending his role as the god's inheritor guide. 4

Chaos God Assessment

Tang Chen began the assessment with strong hostility toward Tang San, but recognized the Clear Sky Hammer after Tang San's martial soul was stripped. 3 6 At the Sixth Grid, he defeated Ah Yin in a duel by immediately pinning her against the Blue Wall. When Tang San revealed that Tang Hao was his father, Tang Chen identified himself as Tang San's grandfather and apologized to Ah Yin for harming her. 14

Although he earned two additional throws from the duel, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm used a Discard Function Card to remove them. Tang Chen responded with intense fury. 14 15

He later joined Tang San, Bai Chenxiang, and the Asura God King in a temporary alliance against the Silver Dragon King, accepting a Titled Douluo Soul Power Pill from the Asura God King. 38 39 His subsequent rewards included the Light Demon-Subduing Hammer, the Number 5 Skill, a Demigod Pill, and the Asura Demon Sword. 34 40 41

Tang San ultimately used an Exchange Function Card to swap Tang Chen from the Fifty-second Grid to the Twenty-eighth Grid, preserving his own higher position. Tang Chen condemned Tang San's selfishness and accused him of disgracing the Clear Sky Sect. 48 He ranked last in the sixth round and was eliminated, receiving the Four-Word Demonic Dragon Battle Armor as compensation before leaving the Chaos Realm. 49 50

Personality

Tang Chen is forceful, proud, and quick to anger, particularly when challenged or when his earned rewards are taken from him. He taunted Sky Dream Ice Silkworm before their Mental Power Test and reacted with murderous intent when his bonus throws were discarded. 8 15

After recovering his consciousness, he displays remorse and familial concern. Learning Tang San's identity immediately changed his attitude toward Ah Yin: he helped her up, apologized, and treated her as Tang Hao's wife. 14 He also encouraged Tang San during the assessment before their relationship deteriorated over Tang San's exchange of positions. 26 48
