Maria silently gazed at Cheng Yu, who lay collapsed on the ground as though his soul had been hollowed out.

Cheng Yu abruptly raised his head. His bloodshot eyes locked tightly onto that illusory glow, his lips trembling violently. Strange rasping sounds came from his throat, but he could not force out a single complete word.
"Those Pokémon... they are innocent lives." Maria's voice remained gentle, yet it carried unwavering resolve, like a final admonition. "They should not bear your hatred, nor can their sacrifices ever soothe it."
"My wish was never to revive the dead by overturning life and death... I only wanted everything to be well. I wanted peace and tranquility. The League... the people you seek revenge against are no longer the ones who persecuted us back then."
"So many years have passed. Everything has changed, and everything is trying to move in a better direction... It is time to let go, Kyle."
She slowly swept her gaze over the wreckage of the airship, over the Pokémon standing ready for battle, and finally returned to Cheng Yu's face.
"Let go, Ah Yu. For me... and for that heart of yours, which has long been exhausted..." Her voice grew fainter
