Breaking the Ice Release

"Ice Release: Light Lance!"

After putting some distance between them, Hizuki Jun rapidly formed hand seals, condensing moisture from the air into several spears over two meters long.

Their shafts were eight-sided. As they spun, they refracted light in every direction like prisms, sending several beams straight toward Uchiha Mai's eyes.

Hizuki Jun thrust a hand forward, and the eight-sided lances shot toward Uchiha Mai.

Uchiha Mai kicked one lance in the middle, sending it skyward. Then he stepped across the others, bounding from one to the next like stairs until he was more than ten meters high.

"Back at you."

Catching the first lance he had kicked up in his left hand, Uchiha Mai hurled it at Hizuki Jun.

Hizuki Jun bit her lip. Why did none of her techniques work on him? Was the gap between them really that wide?

"Ice Release: Ice Rock Dome."

With no other choice, Hizuki Jun raised another wall of ice to block the returning lance.

"Look out!"

Mei Terumi cried out, desperate to warn her, but it was too late.

Crack!

The lance struck the ice wall and shattered into countless chips.

The next instant, Uchiha Mai raised his right leg high and descended, blue flames swirling around both legs.

"Boom Axe: Yin: Reaper!"

Boom!

His right foot cleaved into the ice wall like a battle-axe, and blue flames erupted. Even though the Ice Rock Dome's oval shape gave it the strongest defensive structure, the kick blew it apart.

Miraculously, Uchiha Mai halted his descending foot. After a split-second pause, he drove it down again toward Hizuki Jun's shoulder.

Boom Axe: Reaper was one of Iori Yagami's signature moves. Even without flames, it could deliver a second strike.
