Background

Xiao Bai was originally the chieftain of the Geng Metal White Tiger Clan at White Tiger Mountain. After threatening Yun Xiao in the Western Land, he was subdued; Yun Xiao took his Primordial Spirit imprint, making his life and death subject to her will, then named him “Xiao Bai” and accepted him as her mount 18.

His submission gradually became genuine loyalty. When a late-stage Grand Unity Golden Immortal Fierce Beast injured him outside Fangzhang Island, Yun Xiao intervened to avenge him. Xiao Bai was moved that she would face such a dangerous opponent for a mere mount and later asked her to help relocate his endangered clan 20 21.

Upon returning to White Tiger Mountain, Xiao Bai found the clan gone and learned that it had migrated to the Ten Thousand Beast Forest. He defended his kin against the Moon-Grasping Monkey Clan, but Yun Xiao ultimately slew the intervening Five-Headed Golden Lion and moved the White Tigers to Fangzhang Island to cultivate safely 21 23.

Initially, Xiao Bai is proud, territorial, and easily offended. He resents Yun Xiao's plain naming choice internally, refuses Hao Tian and Yaochi's request to pluck his wing feathers, and is fiercely protective of his appearance and dignity 18 31.

He is deeply attached to his clan and reacts emotionally to White Tiger Mountain's destruction. Despite this pride, he trusts Yun Xiao's judgment and eventually treats her protection and confidence in him as motivation to pursue the Dao 21 24.

Xiao Bai can also be opportunistic and deceptive. He presents himself as an honorable ally to the Five Elements races, then suddenly attacks Xinjin Leopard to support Yun Xiao's seizure of the Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner 43.

White Tiger Clan Refuge

Xiao Bai discovers that his clan has fled White Tiger Mountain because of the growing calamity. He returns as the Tiger Ancestor to defend them from the Moon-Grasping Monkey Clan, before Yun Xiao removes the White Tigers from the Ten Thousand Beast Forest and establishes them on Fangzhang Island 21 23.

Qingqiu Conflicts

When the Wolf and Bei Ancestors threaten the Qingqiu Fox Clan, Xiao Bai rescues the Nine-tailed Celestial Fox and attacks Bei Ancestor for targeting Yun Xiao. He is later injured after Wolf Ancestor joins the battle, forcing Yun Xiao to take over the fight 36 37.

Five Elements Ambush

Xiao Bai deceives the Five Elements races into believing he opposes Yun Xiao's theft of the Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner. He then reveals his alliance with her by using White Tiger Devours Heaven to cripple Xinjin Leopard 43.

Ancient Heavenly Court Guardian

By the time of the Human Race–Demon Race conflict, Xiao Bai has become a Quasi-Saint and leads the Ancient Heavenly Court's retaliation against the Demon Race. He saves Sui, kills Nine Infants, and pursues the other Demon Sages until Zhunti intervenes 147.

Return to Buzhou Mountain
