Background and History

Di Jun appeared among the foremost cultivators gathered outside the Purple Cloud Palace, accompanied by Dong Huang Taiyi. Both projected an imperial bearing, with horns and Golden True Sun Fire surrounding them. 98

During Hongjun's sermon, Di Jun eagerly displayed his three-legged Golden Crow Dao Rhyme and accepted Hongjun's offer to become a disciple, believing himself destined to surpass even the Three Pure Ones. Hongjun later bestowed Hongmeng Purple Qi, the Shanhe Sheji Tu, and the Red Embroidered Ball upon him. 107 108

After the sermon, Di Jun joined the Three Pure Ones in attacking Star Ancestor for control of the Treasure Distribution Rock. He employed Heavenly Dao-infused spiritual treasures to suppress Star Ancestor, but Yun Xiao intervened, exposed Di Jun and Taiyi's seizure of the Sun Star, and extracted their origins. Hongjun's arrival prevented Yun Xiao from killing him. 109 112

While seeking a path to sainthood, Di Jun encountered Chang Xi and discovered her connection to Xi He through the Red Embroidered Ball. He attempted to seize Chang Xi's Moon Laurel Fruit and imprison her to leverage Xi He, but the Ancestral Witches drove him and Taiyi away. 121 122 124

Di Jun publicly announced a Heavenly Marriage with Xi He, offering spiritual roots, Fusang Fruits, and spiritual treasures as betrothal gifts. Chang Xi exposed his prior actions before the assembled cultivators, and Yun Xiao's imprint shattered Di Jun's River-Luo formation, Shanhe Sheji Tu, and Red Embroidered Ball with a single axe strike. Hongjun restored Di Jun's shaken Dao heart and continued to support the marriage as Heaven's will. 123 125

After the Heavenly Dao was injured, Di Jun established the Demon Race, declaring all plants, spirits, scaled creatures, furred creatures, and egg- or moisture-born beings to be demons. The Heavenly Dao unexpectedly granted him immense merit, elevating him to Sainthood and allowing him to proclaim himself Demon Emperor. 133

As Demon Emperor, Di Jun declared war on the Witch Clan, recruited powerful cultivators into his faction, and led the Demon Race into the Witch-Demon Tribulation. He later established the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Array under Hongjun's direction, intending to lure Yun Xiao into a fatal trap. 144 148 150

Yun Xiao broke the array and suppressed Di Jun despite his Saint-level cultivation. After Hongjun's intervention saved him and Taiyi, Di Jun was eventually reduced to blood mist by Yun Xiao. The Heavenly Dao later reconstructed him, but the destruction of much of the Demon Race and Taiyi's near-collapse drove him into madness. He attacked Buzhou Mountain, breaking the pillar of the Primordial Era and bringing heavenly karma upon himself. 150 153 158

Di Jun normally manifests as a horned humanoid wreathed in Golden True Sun Fire, carrying an oppressive imperial aura. His true form is a colossal three-legged Golden Crow capable of blotting out the sun and sky. 98 107 158

Di Jun is intensely proud and ambitious. He considers himself a born sovereign, regards himself as superior to other great cultivators, and eagerly embraces any path that could lead him to sainthood or rulership. 107 121 124

He is also calculating and opportunistic. He sought to exploit Chang Xi's connection to Xi He, used the Demon Race's Destiny to achieve Sainthood, and treated Hongjun's support and the Heavenly Dao's favor as tools for his own ascent. 121 133 148

Repeated defeats by Yun Xiao damaged his Dao heart, but also deepened his obsession. By the Witch-Demon Tribulation, his desire to destroy Yun Xiao, the Human Race, and the Witch Clan had become openly manic. 124 148 150
