Primordial Wilderness: I Am Hong Yun, and I Traded My Saint Position for a Wife at the Start, Section 33
They smiled and said at the same time:
"Brother, your cultivation has improved again. Not only can you travel through Chaos with ease, but you're incredibly fast, too!"
Hong Yun chuckled as well.
Turning to Hou Tu, he smiled and said:
"I have you to thank for that, Hou Tu. Otherwise, relying on myself alone, who knows how many years it would have taken me to comprehend the Earth Law?"
Hou Tu only smiled silently, serene as ever.
When they reached the outskirts of Zixiao Palace, Hong Yun withdrew the barrier.
He looked over Zixiao Palace once more.
Hong Yun was still captivated by the ancient, unadorned palace.
From the outside, it seemed utterly ordinary.
But who would have thought that Zixiao Palace contained a world of its own and could suppress Chaos?
He sighed inwardly and was about to step forward.
A gray shadow broke through the Chaos Qi and entered the barrier around Zixiao Palace.
It landed right in front of the four of them!
The gray shadow was none other than the Chaos Bell, spinning around nonstop.
In the next moment, two figures appeared and took the Chaos Bell away.
Hong Yun froze, having already guessed who they were.
What other gray bell could possibly be the Chaos Bell?
And then there was the faint scent of True Sun Fire emanating from the two of them.
Who else could they be but Di Jun and Taiyi?
Just as he expected.
The two cupped their hands toward the four and said with a smile:
"Di Jun and Taiyi greet our four fellow Daoists!"
Hong Yun felt a little strange. These two would later become the Witch Clan's mortal enemies.
Hong Yun was on good terms with the Witch Clan, yet the two were so courteous.
How true it was that "if only life could remain as it was at first meeting"!
He returned their greeting without delay.
Cupping his hands toward Di Jun and Taiyi, he said:
"Hong Yun greets you both, fellow Daoists!"
Zhen Yuan Zi, Hou Tu, and Xuanming also greeted them in turn.
Di Jun chatted with the four of them with easy familiarity.
"My brother and I hail from the Sun Star. The Saint's last lecture passed by so quickly that we never had the chance to meet you all!"
"Fortunately, we've finally had the good luck to meet you this time!"
Zhen Yuan Zi laughed heartily, picked up where Di Jun left off, and the two began chatting.
Hong Yun glanced at Di Jun and Taiyi, then at Hou Tu and Xuanming.
A strange, unreal feeling welled up inside him.
"Why does this feel a little strange?"
The reason Hong Yun found it strange was that he knew the Witch and Demon Races would later become sworn enemies.
Their battles would shatter the heavens and split the earth!
Yet here he was, watching Hou Tu converse with the brothers Di Jun and Taiyi so openly and naturally.
For a moment, he couldn't help feeling wistful.
Those who had listened to the Dao in Zixiao Palace had all survived the Dragon-Han Tribulation and the battle between Dao and Demon.
They did not emerge until Hongjun had become a Saint and announced it to the Primordial Wilderness.
Only then did this group step onto the stage of the Primordial Wilderness!
At this point, what sort of karmic entanglements or conflicts could there be between them?
The calamity they would eventually fall into stemmed from both a struggle over the Great Dao and conflicts over their races' interests.
And perhaps there were also schemes by the Saints and the Heavenly Dao...
As Hong Yun mused, he kept smiling.
Di Jun didn't suspect a thing.
He merely wondered if Fellow Daoist Hong Yun was naturally taciturn.
But he looked like a kind and amiable person.
When they had first listened to the Dao in Zixiao Palace, he and his brother had only just left the Sun Star.
On top of that, they had been in such a hurry that they hadn't had a chance to get acquainted with the others!
Di Jun was a born ruler. Although he had yet to establish the Demon Race, he was already instinctively considering how to build ties with the many mighty cultivators.
The brothers Zhen Yuan Zi and Hong Yun had caught his attention.
Their cultivation was neither high nor low.
They also seemed easygoing!
"Perhaps we could become kindred spirits!"
That was what Di Jun thought. As for Hou Tu and Xuanming, the Ancestral Shamans who had surrounded them earlier were all extraordinarily powerful!
They were also worth befriending.
With that in mind, Di Jun grew even more enthusiastic as he spoke.
The six of them chatted and laughed as they entered Zixiao Palace.
By the time they entered, quite a few people were already seated inside.
The hall was silent.
Zhen Yuan Zi nodded to Di Jun and Taiyi and exchanged a meaningful glance with them. Then the group split into two, and each side returned to their original seats.
Only then did Hong Yun suddenly remember something.
"I actually forgot to pinch Hao Tian's cheek!"
"What a pity..."
The thought that, even after Hao Tian sat upon the Heavenly Emperor's Throne, he could still boast,
"I pinched that kid's cheek when he was little!"
struck Hong Yun as especially amusing.
He had been so preoccupied thinking about the Witch and Demon Races that he'd forgotten the one thing he'd been looking forward to.
Just then, Zhen Yuan Zi turned toward him.
He asked quietly:
"Hm? What's with you today? Why haven't you said a word?"
"That's not like you at all!"
Hong Yun rolled his eyes at him.
"So you think I'm a chatterbox?"
Zhen Yuan Zi had spent billions of years with Hong Yun and knew him better than anyone. He could clearly tell that something was on Hong Yun's mind.
Seeing that Hong Yun didn't want to talk, Zhen Yuan Zi chuckled.
He didn't press him any further.
If even Zhen Yuan Zi was asking Hong Yun what was wrong, then Hou Tu and Xuanming, who had been keeping an eye on him the whole time, had naturally noticed as well.
They both gave Hong Yun a worried, puzzled look.
