Background / History

Di Jun was born from the Sun Star alongside his younger brother Taiyi. After witnessing the disorder and suffering of lesser races following the Dragon-Han Tribulation, he conceived a path through which beings could cultivate according to their innate nature and live under a unified order. His instinct was to seek out worthy allies, including Hong Yun, Zhen Yuan Zi, Fuxi, Nu Wa, and the Ancestral Witches. 49 50

At the Purple Cloud Palace, Di Jun asked Hongjun whether paths to the Dao existed beyond the Immortal Dao. When Hongjun revealed the Jade Disc of Creation for all to comprehend, Di Jun hailed him as the ancestor of the Three Thousand Great Daos, establishing the title “Dao Ancestor.” 54

Di Jun and his allies later created the Myriad Spirits Dao, allowing any sentient being to cultivate regardless of race. Although he understood that this could challenge Hongjun’s Immortal Dao and provoke conflict, he relied on Nu Wa’s position as Hongjun’s disciple to signal goodwill. 118

Establishment of the Demon Race

At Bu Zhou Mountain, Di Jun, Taiyi, Fuxi, and Nu Wa proclaimed the establishment of the Demon Race. Di Jun declared that all sentient beings of the Primordial Era could be counted among demons, established the Demon Dao, and named himself Demon Emperor. The River Diagram, Luo Book, and Chaos Bell were used to suppress the race’s destiny. 164

The Heavenly Dao acknowledged the new race with merit and destiny. A Heavenly Court imprint entered Di Jun, granting him authority over the Primordial Era; he then declared the Demon Heavenly Court established and assumed the title of Heavenly Emperor. 165 166

Di Jun combines compassion for the myriad races with the ambition and pragmatism of a ruler. His original goal was to end pointless conflict by uniting the Primordial Era’s races, but he also understood that leadership required centralized power and the ability to bend when necessary. 50 161 165

He is politically perceptive and values capable allies. He defended Hong Yun against Zhun Ti, treated Kun Peng as a potential partner rather than a mere subordinate, and recognized that Hong Yun could serve as an intermediary between the Witch and Demon factions. 140 220 507

His desire for sainthood became his greatest vulnerability. Though suspicious of Hongjun’s gift of Primordial Violet Qi, he accepted it out of ambition and clung to the possibility of becoming a Saint despite recognizing the danger. After the Violet Qi shattered, he acknowledged his error and turned openly against the Saints’ manipulation. 546 606

In his final actions, Di Jun accepted responsibility for the calamity surrounding the Demon Race. He focused on preserving its legacy, protecting Xi He and their surviving child, and inflicting consequences on those he believed had used the Witch-Demon War as a scheme. 611 632 636
