Background

During the Dragon-Han Tribulation, Ancestral Dragon pursued dominion over the Primordial Era. The ensuing war killed countless dragons and left their descendants burdened by Heavenly Dao karmic debt. He later blamed his ambition for their losses 202 203 217. Though believed dead, he had become the spirit of the Primordial Dragon Vein, preserving a portion of the Dragon Clan’s fortune at the cost of being bound within the Earth Veins 181 184 189.

Hong Yun and Xuanming discovered him in the Western Boundary while searching for the Twelve-grade World-Destroying Black Lotus. Ancestral Dragon initially concealed his identity and the lotus’s trail, then allied with them to seek Luohu’s remnant soul, whom he wanted for the Dragon Clan’s past grievances 181 183 188. Afterward, Hong Yun revealed his identity and gave Ancestral Dragon the lotus as promised 199.

As the Demon Race threatened the weakened Dragon Clan, Ancestral Dragon sought Hong Yun’s protection. He offered treasures and the Myriad Dragon Armor to keep the clan’s karmic debt from implicating Hong Yun 217 229 232. He later accepted closer ties between the Dragon Clan and the Human Race, despite fearing the loss of his clan’s autonomy 676 686.

When the Human Dao came under threat, Ancestral Dragon abandoned his chance to escape the Earth Veins and became its spirit. The merger strengthened the Human Dao, but the thoughts of countless humans battered his soul 810 823. Hong Yun subsequently sent his undying spiritual light into reincarnation as a human without his former cultivation; the power he left behind was absorbed by the Human Dao 824.

Appearance

Ancestral Dragon first presents himself to Hong Yun as a small, harmless-looking white dragon. He later gathers Earth Vein energy to reveal a majestic dragon form 181 182.

Ancestral Dragon is proud of the Dragon Clan’s former power, but his concern for its survival repeatedly leads him to bargain and yield. He recognizes that his pursuit of dominance helped bring about the clan’s decline 194 203 217. He remains protective of its independence, resisting full subordination to the Human Race even while seeking the benefits of an alliance 676 687.
