Warring States Period

Tobirama is the younger brother of Hashirama Senju and a son of Senju Butsuma. He first appears alongside his father and brother during the Uchiha–Senju confrontation around Hashirama and Madara's meeting place. 37

From an early age, Tobirama views the Uchiha as an inherent threat. He believes that killing Madara would free Hashirama from Uchiha influence and allow the Senju to unify the Land of Fire on their own terms. 74 His hostility extends to Kyosuke, whom he attacks to avenge his uncle; Kyosuke defeats him through genjutsu after Tobirama underestimates his opponent's ocular abilities. 101 102

Tobirama repeatedly develops techniques to offset stronger enemies. During the conflict with Black Zetsu, he ambushes the enemy with the newly developed Mutual Explosion Tag, though he cancels the technique when its blast radius begins to consume him. 127 He later masters the Flying Thunder God Technique and uses it to extract an injured Hashirama from Kyosuke's attack. 137 140

Rise of Hashirama

After Butsuma's death, Tobirama forcibly secures Hashirama's succession as Senju Clan Head. He intimidates Elder Domoto and uses the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique to suppress opposition within the clan, choosing to serve as the ruthless “shadow” behind Hashirama's public idealism. 137
