Background / History

Nokton was a Star Hunter who failed a trial on Heka Star. After Tang Chuan defeated and removed him from the planet, Nokton submitted in exchange for a promise that Tang Chuan would one day cleanse the shame of his failure. 38

Early in their travels, Nokton acted as Tang Chuan's hunter and scout. He offered himself as bait during the Exile Star investigation, guarded Tang Chuan while he slept, studied advanced hunting tutorials, and used tracking powder to monitor targets. 48 49 He was later captured by the forces behind the planet, leaving him remorseful over his failure. 65

Nokton suffered a severe genetic collapse after receiving unsuitable genetic material: his body swelled, sprouted malformed limbs and heads, and became barely recognizable. Quintessa later used Chiloo's representative tissues to stabilize him, allowing his racial ability to devour useful genes to rebuild his body. 77 85 His completed evolution gave him a human-like appearance and brought him to the threshold of Fourth Cosmic Speed. 99

On Brota Planet, Nokton served as the team's principal infiltrator. He entered the Supernatural Operations Team's bases in stealth, reviewed confidential records, and identified ten of the twelve Mr. Numbers. 237 272 During the battle against Mr. Truth and Mr. Luck, he repeatedly overextended himself to break Containments and rescue Tang Chuan, ultimately collapsing his body to buy Tang Chuan the opening needed to escape. 287 288 289

Tang Chuan later rewarded him with the Spear of Eternity, a weapon Nokton considered perfectly compatible with his own power. 337 In Ghost Mound, he sought further tempering and chose to evolve using a piece of Ghost Guanyin's golden heart. 380 441 467 This evolution raised him to the Hyperdimensional Black Hole stage and granted him golden energy threads. 480

During Tang Chuan's long absence, Nokton travelled and fought alone across multiple training grounds for nearly five hundred years. 626 He became the Star Hunter Shura by silently assassinating the previous ruler of the Obsidian Continent, one of the five core regions of the Bloody Shura Field. 627 When Tang Chuan returned, Nokton immediately recognized him and reaffirmed his loyalty despite being surrounded by hostile Asuras. 630

Nokton later entered the Void Great Rift to retrieve an evolution treasure. There, he absorbed its valuable materials, witnessed terrifying higher-dimensional beings, and escaped only by trusting Tang Chuan's instructions. 636 637 After another higher-dimensional evolution aboard the Overlord Divine Ship, he accepted that he might never surpass Tang Chuan, but chose to remain his follower regardless. 641 643

Much later, Nokton and the Spear of Eternity were identified as a crucial clue in the plan against the God of Life and Misfortune. Yeta accessed Nokton's Utopia memories, retrieved the Hunter's Notebook hidden there, and merged it with the spear to break its seal and form a new God Path. 765 766

Appearance

Following his first major evolution, Nokton adopted a handsome human-like form to communicate more easily with Tang Chuan and avoid drawing attention. He retained several traits of his Star Hunter biology. 99

He is consistently self-critical about his strength, often seeking further evolution because he believes he has fallen behind Tang Chuan. 441 569 641 Despite this insecurity, he is diligent: he studies hunting techniques, seeks strong opponents, and uses every available opportunity to temper himself. 48 355 380
