The Universe Is an Ocean
After a long silence, Chromie whispered, "Why is this happening? Why are the Titan doing this? What's in it for them?"
Deren nodded to Jaina: "Actually, the Titan ' goal is quite simple. Let's not get into the complexities. Let's take the ocean as an example. When it comes to the ocean and exploration, I think Jaina is the most qualified to speak on this."
Jaina sat upright, proud of Deren's words. "Although I don't want to use the nickname ' Daughter of the Sea ' anymore, my understanding of the ocean is indeed one of my strengths."
Deren nodded and said to everyone, "Think of the universe as a vast ocean. The navy and pirates are two forces within this ocean. Over the long course of history, some navy deserters have become pirates, while others have been inspired to join the navy."
Now, let's see if everyone understands.
Everyone nodded in understanding—except for Anveena, who was staring intently at Deren.
"One day, a scout ship reported the discovery of a magical island far overseas, inhabited by a powerful Turtle God and his people. The navy dispatched its most powerful fleet to investigate," Deren continued.
"As expected, a powerful Turtle God is slumbering in the center of the island, while his people live happily in the rest of the island. What will the Navy do now, Jaina?"
Jaina lowered her head, pondering the situation Deren had asked about, before finally saying, "The safest course of action is to be on good terms with the people of the Turtle God. If we anger the local people and the Turtle God awakens to retaliate, then we'll suffer a greater loss than we gain."
But no one would be willing to give up the Turtle God's power for nothing. Perhaps we could introduce an external force to test the waters, observe the Turtle God's condition, and then take the safest approach to steal his power.
Deren nodded in agreement, saying, "You see, human nature is always greedy. The Navy is both afraid of the Turtle God's power and unwilling to give up trying to steal it."
The best way is to tell the island's coordinates to a weak pirate, letting that greedy and mindless pirate test the Turtle God's power. Observe the process and find the Turtle God's weakness.
"Ah~" Chromie excitedly ripped at her braids, gritting her teeth as she said, "So the Old God were the first wave of pirates, the orcs were the second wave, and the Undead were the third wave? So the Old God were just imprisoned and protected, and the Aspect Dragons really spoiled the orcs and the Undead too much."
Alexstrasza was imprisoned by the Dragonmaw Orc and used as a breeding machine; her Blue Dragon were attacked and had their artifacts stolen by the orcs; she killed several Blue Dragon but did not retaliate against the orcs. And the Undead, their stronghold, the Frozen Throne, is right next to the Dragonblight Temple, practically their neighbor.
The Undead not only collect dragon bones in the Dragonblight to make bone dragons, but they even kill lone Dragon and turn them into bone dragons, and the Dragon don't dare to utter a sound.
The little Gnome jumped to the ground in anger, gesturing wildly as he said, "And the Undead breached Lordaeron, breached Quel'Thalas, killed tens of thousands of people, and even summoned the Archimonde in Dalaran, yet the Dragon Race didn't utter a single word."
So it was all orders from the boss. I really admire Alexstrasza; she's been patient to the end, like Ninja Dragon!
"So the Titan' ultimate goal is the Azeroth's Soul?" Aegwynn asked hesitantly.
"Yes, on one hand, the Titan coveted the power of Azeroth, and on the other hand, they feared that the Star Soul would awaken and destroy them during the process of seizing power. So they kept testing the Star Soul by sending in waves of foreign pirates to test its reaction."
I had previously told Oni and the others that the Titan ' goal was simply to expedite the awakening and independence of the Azeroth's Soul. Now it seems the Titan aren't as righteous and benevolent as they claim.
After you saw the Dark Empire of the Old God, you realized the Old God Old God were useless, so you killed some and imprisoned others. This triggered the Eternal Well, interfered with the Troll' evolution into High Elf, and then you sent Sargeras, triggering the War of the Ancients. This directly caused the Eternal Well to explode, blasting Sargeras back into the Void.
Then the Dark Portal opened, and the orcs flooded into Azeroth, slaughtering countless lives and forcing the First and Second War to be fought. The orcs then refused to leave Azeroth.
This is the Third Undead War, and the Undead are living peacefully in Northrend under the protection of the Dragon Race.
"So, where in this world is there truly selfless Consecration? So-called protection is more likely an attempt to covet your greater value," Deren concluded quietly.
The people in the room carefully considered Deren's words, and were horrified by the dark truth they revealed.
"Indeed, Deren lives up to my expectations. He went to great lengths to find this soul from the outside world. He has discovered the hidden truth behind the scenes of Azeroth from a higher perspective," Jaina's voice suddenly rang out.
Her tone of voice was not her usual one; there seemed to be a certain power in it.
Aegwynn was the first to react. She bowed to Jaina and said in a trembling voice, "Is it you, the great Azeroth's Soul?"
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately stood up and bowed to Jaina.
Jaina nodded slightly, sat down casually, and said to everyone:
"Deren's guesses were mostly correct. There was only one thing: the Old God did cause me some harm. Instead, it kept draining energy from me, like a bleeding wound, hindering my awakening."
The orcs and Undead have killed a great many lives, which has weakened my power to some extent.
If they truly believe I will become the most powerful Titan upon awakening, then what about the Pantheon's stance?
Is it to weaken my power, steal my power, and let them maintain their position forever?
Or will you protect me, urge me to become the new strongest Titan, and then relinquish that throne in the Pantheon so I can be their leader?
Star Soul's words reminded Deren of a story set in a Dark Forest. In the universe, all civilizations are hunters and prey; where is there so much warmth and beauty?
Star Soul glanced at Jaina again. "Jaina, you were chosen by them, and many future histories would require your participation. But now the Theramore's Fall is over, and their plans have failed."
Deren has changed a lot. That makes me happy. As long as it's free from their schemes, it lessens the harm done to me.
She glanced at Jaina's belly again, walked to her side, and gently stroked it. "This is Deren's child, isn't it? This is the greatest change. A child who shouldn't exist in history is being conceived. Let me give her my blessing; her future holds infinite possibilities."
After speaking, the hand pressing on his abdomen emitted a faint glow.
Aegwynn, who was standing nearby and was Jaina's teacher, quickly thanked the Star Soul for his blessing on behalf of her student.
Star Soul looked at the young and beautiful Aegwynn and said with a smile, "My old friend, we used to beat Sargeras together back then, and you're still so young."
Aegwynn gave an awkward laugh, looked up at Deren, and said, "It's all thanks to that brat Deren. He got me a favor from Elune."
