Mary Geoise.
Saint Mendsbin of the Five Elders hung up the Den Den Mushi, his lingering anger yet to fade. As one of the World Government's highest authorities, he was naturally not one to make trouble without reason. Rado had indeed been in the wrong this time—he had not been sensitive enough.
The issue was not what kind of punishment or abuse Figo had inflicted on the prisoners.
It was that the number of prisoners he had released revealed Figo's astonishing growth curve!
Unlike the pirates on Level 5, although those imprisoned there also had bounties exceeding a hundred million and could be called Great Pirates, elite Marine officers still had a chance to capture them through the advantage of warship firepower if their forces were properly arranged.
But against the pirates of Level 6, if the Marines did not deploy high-ranking combat power—a Vice Admiral or even a Marine Admiral—sending any number of men was basically just feeding them to the enemy!
They were all formidable figures who stood on their own in the New World, each highly proficient in Armament Haki and Observation Haki. A select few even possessed exceptionally effective Devil Fruits, some of them awakened. None were easy to deal with—yet Figo had dealt with three at once?
The difficulty was far from merely tripled.
Figo, who had even suffered some injuries while capturing Worry Demon Geld Chuck a year ago, had grown to this extent in just one year?
Did he not have a growth bottleneck?
How many exceptionally gifted Marines became Vice Admirals in their thirties, only to remain Vice Admirals for the rest of their lives? Were there only three Marine Admirals because the World Government allotted only three positions? No—it was because each generation had only so many Marine powerhouses capable of standing at the pinnacle of the seas, and sometimes there were not even enough to fill all three positions!
Yet with Figo's current growth rate, although he had not even ranked among the top five Vice Admirals a year ago, he was now unquestionably qualified as an Admiral candidate. In a few years, possessing Admiral-level strength was inevitable.
And this might not even be Figo's limit. What if he acquired a suitable Devil Fruit as well?
"Does he have the potential to become 'the world's strongest'?" Saint Mendsbin murmured.
Although Figo had disrupted one of the operations he had planned, Saint Mendsbin was not angry. It was inconsequential to him. He even greatly appreciated the ability Figo had displayed in Impel Down and intended to bring Figo under his command.
There was only one matter that prevented him from being at ease.
Saint Cassilia's death a year ago remained unresolved, and Figo was a suspect!
With CP0's intelligence capabilities, they could naturally discover that Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral Teacher Doug had intended to dispatch a warship that afternoon. That led them to Miya and Figo, who had visited Doug's home that morning, and then back to the true reason Jellal had attacked Saint Cassilia.
Figo had a motive.
He had merely been ruled out because he lacked the ability.
But he could not be completely ruled out.
There were simply too many strange things in the world. Some people had two hearts; some even had two heads. It was not impossible that Figo possessed some undiscovered peculiarity.
Even though recruits all underwent thorough physical examinations.
Just as Saint Mendsbin tapped his fingers lightly against his chair in thought, there came a sudden knock at the door.
A CP0 intelligence officer hurried inside and reported, "Saint Mendsbin, there is now a suspect in Saint Cassilia's murder from a year ago!"
"Hmm?"
"Two days ago, a Slave Ship headed for the Sabaody Archipelago was attacked. All the slaves were released. According to the surviving crewmen, the attacker was a female swordswoman with an unknown Devil Fruit. She could grow wings and fly, and her strength was extraordinary!"
Saint Mendsbin asked, "Where is she headed?"
"We are still investigating."
"Find out as soon as possible!"
After dismissing the CP0 intelligence officer, Saint Mendsbin's faintly furrowed brow relaxed.
Could Figo now be completely cleared of suspicion?
Time passed like a swift white horse, like rushing water.
In the blink of an eye, another six years slipped through his fingers.
It had been seven years since Figo returned to Impel Down as its Director. Including his time since transmigrating, he had guarded Impel Down for fifteen years.
Thirty-five-year-old Figo was training upside down in Impel Down's Training Area. He was not balancing on his hands, nor on his head, but on his hair!
Each strand of his short black hair stood upright, braced against the ground, steadily supporting Figo's massive weight of nearly five hundred jin.
Because of Giant Power, time had not left many marks on Figo's face, but his height had continued to grow without limit.
As early as four years ago, Figo's height had increased from 250 centimeters to 280 centimeters, making him feel that he could not delay dealing with this issue any longer.
As a transmigrator, Figo naturally knew of a special ability that could only be explored after mastering the Six Powers: Life Return. It allowed the user to freely control their body, internal organs, and hair, making it extremely effective for the problem he was currently facing.
However, perhaps Life Return had not yet been developed in this era, or perhaps it was only circulated within a small circle. Figo could only figure it out himself.
At that time, after training on his own, his Six Powers had also reached a certain level. He immediately selected the gains from three CP9 agents, and after making another round of progress, relied on his exceptional Physique to force his way into developing Life Return.
Four years had passed in a flash, and Figo's development had produced quite remarkable results. At the very least, after reaching 280 centimeters, his height had not increased any further!
His ears twitched lightly. Figo heard a jailer running over from afar, along with the faint purururu ringing of a Den Den Mushi. The hair supporting his inverted body immediately bent slightly, then straightened viciously. Like springs, they used the force to launch Figo's body upward, easily returning him to an upright stance.
"Director! Director! Your call!"
The Five Elders again? Figo took the Den Den Mushi from the approaching jailer and answered it.
"Moshi Moshi, Figo speaking."
"Figo, it's me."
An aged voice came from the other side of the Den Den Mushi. It sounded weary and slightly distorted, and Figo had not heard it in far too long. He froze for two seconds before responding, "Teacher Doug?"
"Can you still recognize your teacher's voice? Young people do have good memories. Unlike me, I always get your name wrong." The old man seemed to want to make a joke, yet lacked the mood for it. He sighed. "Get ready, Figo. In two hours, I'll arrive at Impel Down to interrogate Mad Laughing Jellal!"
Interrogate Jellal? Figo froze, immediately thinking of the surviving Sapphire—the unfortunate yet strong girl. At first, he had occasionally kept track of her through the Prison Archives, though he had done so less often in recent years.
He opened the Prison Archives, pulled up Jellal's page, and guided his Character Event 2. He found the arrow pointing far off to the northwest.
That was... the direction of the New World?
Could that girl have ultimately become a pirate after all? Figo frowned slightly.
"What is it, Teacher?"
Doug said, "Six years ago, a blind female swordsman began repeatedly attacking the Slave Ships of the Celestial Dragons and slave traders. To date, she has destroyed a total of thirty-two Slave Ships and rescued over a thousand slaves.
"Most of them were sent back to their homelands by her. A small number of stronger individuals chose to follow her, and her ranks continued to expand, gradually becoming a force on the seas that could not be ignored. The World Government calls her the Blind Witch, with a bounty of 800 million Berry!"
Figo's heart jolted faintly.
A blind female swordsman... so it was her?
"The Marines launched two campaigns against her, and the World Government laid three ambushes, but she sensed them in advance every time, avoiding battle and escaping. All their efforts came to nothing.
"Gradually, the slaves she rescued began calling her the 'Saintess.' Half a year ago, they supported her in establishing a force called the Revolutionary Army, dedicated to overthrowing the rule of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons.
"The World Government was enraged. They raised her bounty to 1.2 billion, breaking the previous record, and ordered this old man to serve as the chief person responsible for eliminating the Revolutionary Army."
The Revolutionary Army? Where had this Revolutionary Army come from?
Figo's first thought was that he had done something and caused a butterfly effect. But then he considered that even without him, Jellal should have been imprisoned in Impel Down, perhaps in an even worse situation than now.
Only then did he understand. In this world, wouldn't it be unsurprising for a Revolutionary Army to emerge in any era?
The only difference was that each generation's Revolutionary Army had been dismantled by the World Government, while the one from the future storyline had a strong chance of ultimately succeeding.
Revolutionary Army... Sapphire...
"I understand, Teacher."
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, Figo stood silently for over ten minutes before turning and walking out.
His figure stood tall and straight, his stride like a mountain.
His bearing seemed utterly invincible!
