Background / History

Origin and decline

White Night Yaksha began as the strongest Star Spirit, governing the Primal Star and its total universal mass. When Hakoniwa's core was established, she gained the Geocentric Theory Spirit Grid and became the White Night Demon King, a Humanity's Final Trial whose cosmology stood at the summit of the world. 806 831

Her power declined alongside belief in geocentrism. As the theory was rejected by advancing human history, her Spirit Grid contracted until she lost her Final Trial status and was suppressed to the horizon of the white night. A later defeat by the Twin Goddesses of Creation and End restricted even that diminished Spirit Grid. 806

Thousand Eyes and the East District

As an executive of the commercial alliance Thousand Eyes, White Night Yaksha operates from the fourth-digit gates and serves as Floor Master of Hakoniwa's East Side. She has known Black Rabbit for a long time and aided her community after the fall of No Name. 808 842

When Li Zihan and the problem children arrived, she immediately took an interest in Black Rabbit and attempted to negotiate for her “usage rights” in exchange for Solar Sovereignties. She later gave Blessing Cards to the newcomers, restored part of No Name's land with costly Blessings, and warned the group that investigating another being's Spirit Grid could provoke a Gift Game or war. 806 808 811 828

Testing Bahram

After learning that Bahram possessed a Blessing capable of severing Spirit Grids—the same vulnerability that had ended her own status as a Humanity's Final Trial—White Night Yaksha agreed to test him in a Gift Game field. She summoned the Primal Star and deliberately restricted herself to the four-digit level. 831 833

Bahram's Golden Sword wounded her Geocentric Theory Spirit Grid at the sixth cosmic velocity. In response, she summoned fourteen Star Beasts, each possessing top-tier four-digit combat power, to test whether his strength matched his anti-Spirit-Grid Blessing. Bahram ultimately defeated her, and she reluctantly acknowledged him as a Hero. 835 837

Absolute Evil and the Demon King Alliance

White Night Yaksha became increasingly concerned about the planned release of Absolute Evil, Azhdaha, and the Demon King Alliance's attempt to rebuild Hakoniwa. She transferred nine Solar Sovereignties to Bahram for his plan to sever Azhdaha's Spirit Grid, while preparing a final contingency: if Bahram failed, she would activate Host Authority and seal herself together with the Evil Dragon. 865 867 891

She later investigated the Demon King Alliance directly, fearing that its members intended to use Solar Sovereignties and the Evil Dragon to force Hakoniwa's Territory Rulers into submission. 954 962

Conflict with Li Zihan

White Night Yaksha initially supported Li Zihan against successive calamities, but turned against his stated plan to spread Utopia across Hakoniwa, monopolize the Human Chronicle, and collect every Historical Conversion Period. She returned to her Sun Runner identity and invoked the Primal Star when he revealed the scale of his ambitions. 986 987

After her defeat, Li Zihan confiscated her remaining five Solar Sovereignties and made her his vassal. Though unwilling to support Nameless, she became its advisor and entered battles involving the community to prevent “Rama” from falling and summoning the Apocalypse Theory Tyrant. She led twenty-three Beast Kings against Argol and Narashimha, calling her apparent betrayal a “roundabout route to save Hakoniwa.” 1000 1010 1018

Appearance

White Night Yaksha is most often seen as a short, white-haired girl with golden eyes, usually wearing a kimono and carrying a folding fan. She has also appeared as a white-haired, golden-eyed old woman with a short, stout build. 806 850 982

  • White hair and luminous golden irises. 806
  • Commonly manifests in a childlike “loli” form. 850
  • Favors Japanese-style clothing with wide sleeves. 810
  • Regularly uses a folding fan to conceal her expression, fan herself, or gesture dramatically. 822 835
  • Her serious combat manifestations include the White Night King and Sun Runner identities. 888 986

Personality

White Night Yaksha is brazenly flirtatious, voyeuristic, and easily distracted by attractive women—especially Black Rabbit. She treats impropriety as a joke, speaks with theatrical exaggeration, and openly tries to turn situations to her advantage through bargains or manipulation. 806 810 824 825

Behind that unserious demeanor, she is observant and politically experienced. She recognizes the danger of Host Authority, understands the consequences of interfering with Spirit Grids, and becomes decisive when Hakoniwa or its lower levels are threatened. 811 828 865 962

She is also prideful about her beauty and status, reacts badly to humiliation, and carries lasting anxiety over her historical decline and repeated defeats. 837 1000

Abilities & Skills

Primal Star

White Night Yaksha governs the Primal Star, a celestial law embodying the mass of the stars at the world's creation. When serious, she can call it forth as a platinum-white stellar presence. 806 833 986

  • Provides the foundation for her identity as the strongest original Star Spirit. 806
  • Can be unleashed in battle when she takes the White Night King form. 833
  • Its demonstrated manifestation was restricted to three-digit strength during the confrontation with Li Zihan. 986

Spirit Grid and Geocentric Theory

Her former Geocentric Theory Spirit Grid made her a Humanity's Final Trial and the White Night Demon King. 806 831

  • Her power depends on the historical standing of geocentrism; rejection of the theory shrank her Spirit Grid. 806
  • A Blessing capable of severing Spirit Grids is especially dangerous to her because she has personally lost power through Spirit Grid severance. 831
  • She can suppress herself to the four-digit level, but doing so limits her ability to withstand three-digit attacks. 835

Host Authority and Gift Games

White Night Yaksha possesses Host Authority and can form Gift Game fields. 811 1010

  • Her Host Authority remained intact even when she was engulfed by the Black Death's black wind. 869
  • By returning her Divine Spark and fully using Host Authority, she could manifest as the White Night King rather than remain at her Layer Guardian restrictions. 833
  • Her defeat created a Gift Game field from her Host Authority. 1010
  • She intended to use Host Authority to seal herself alongside Azhdaha if Bahram failed. 891

Star Beast Summoning

While wounded in her test against Bahram, White Night Yaksha summoned fourteen Star Beasts to assess his combat ability. 835

  • Each Star Beast possessed top-tier four-digit combat power. 835
  • She later commanded twenty-three Beast Kings in a large-scale intervention against Argol and Narashimha. 1010

Spirit Immortality

As a Spirit, White Night Yaksha is not tied to the Human Chronicle and is naturally born in relation to the stars. 954

  • God-slaying powers that threaten Gods and Demons do not inherently destroy her. 954
  • She can only be permanently destroyed through a special method that eliminates every star corresponding to her across all universes. 954
  • She was able to revive after being struck by the Salvation Divine Blade enhanced with the principle of Victory. 994

Blessing Appraisal and Administration

White Night Yaksha distributes and appraises Blessings through Laplace Paper, also called Blessing Cards. 808 829

  • Gave Blessing Cards to Sakaigami Todoh, Hisui Asuka, Kasukabe Yao, and Bahram. 808
  • The cards can store and reveal the names of Blessings owned by their holders. 808
  • Used Laplace Paper to appraise the Salvation Divine Blade, receiving an overwhelming amount of information. 829
  • Used expensive Blessings to restore part of No Name's lost land. 828

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Folding fan — Her favored personal accessory, used in conversation and battle. 822 835
  • Laplace Paper — A form of Omniscience-related paper used to appraise Blessings and armaments. 829
  • Blessing Cards — Crimson cards that record and reveal a holder's Blessings. 808
  • Solar Sovereignties — She once held fourteen and transferred nine to Bahram for the plan against Azhdaha; she later lost her final five to Li Zihan in a Gift Game. 865 867 1000

Relationships

  • Li Zihan / Bahram — Initially a wary negotiator and later a testing opponent; she aided his campaign against Azhdaha, but opposed his Utopia plan. After losing to him, she became his vassal and Nameless advisor. 806 833 867 1000 1010
  • Black Rabbit — A longtime acquaintance whom she has aided since No Name's fall, but whom she constantly teases and attempts to claim as a pet. 808 825
  • Indra — An old upper-level associate and frequent target of her mockery; after surviving her own defeat, she recruited him to resist the Decadence Wind. 806 889 1023
  • Halloween Queen — A fellow major problem child and longstanding rival from the first Solar Sovereignty War; the two remain openly hostile. 982 1005
  • Argol — A fellow major problem child whose release she initially warned against; Argol resents her for voting for Athena in their beauty contest. 842 1005

“Show me your power.” 833

“To see mountains not as mountains, and water not as water; what attracts me is not the beautiful appearance, but the more admirable artistic conception behind that beauty.” 1021

Trivia

  • White Night Yaksha is counted among Hakoniwa's three major problem children alongside the Halloween Queen and Argol. 822 982
  • She claims that her philosophy of appreciating beauty was developed through thousands of years of Buddhist cultivation as a Yaksha. 1021
