Background / History

Huangfu Ji was reborn into the Huangfu Family as the only son of Grand Duke Qingyang. The Huangfu family had ruled Qingyang Duchy for four centuries and was known for its inherited War Dragon Martial Soul; its ancestors had produced multiple Titled Douluo. 1

When Huangfu Ji was four, his uncle Huangfu Yunxing rebelled. Though the rebellion was suppressed, Huangfu Ji's father, Huangfu Yunhe, died after Prime Minister Yuan Hao failed to send reinforcements in time. Yuan Hao subsequently seized Qingyang's military and administrative authority, purged or intimidated the Huangfu loyalists, and kept Huangfu Ji under surveillance as a puppet ruler. Huangfu Ji's mother died from grief a year later. 1

At six, Huangfu Ji awakened the Sacred Martial War Dragon and Innate Full Soul Power. Yuan Hao responded by claiming publicly that Huangfu Ji possessed only Level Five innate soul power, sealing the Duke's Mansion, and refusing to let him obtain a soul ring. Huangfu Ji bypassed the lockdown by sending messages to the public, forcing Yuan Hao to permit his enrollment at Qingyang's Junior Soul Master Academy. 3 4 5 6

He completed the academy's six-year curriculum in less than a year, trained with Liu Erlong, and developed the Martial Soul Fusion Skill Dragon Descends to the Nine Heavens with her over five years. Having outgrown the Qingyang Duchy's resources, he secured admission to Heaven Dou Royal Academy and left Qingyang despite Yuan Hao's plans to have him assassinated outside the duchy. 22 25 26 34

At Heaven Dou, Huangfu Ji gathered descendants of Qingyang loyalists, cultivated under extreme conditions, established an intelligence network through Wang Zhi and Zhou Mu, and began preparing to retake Qingyang. He later entered the City of Slaughter to pursue the Asura God's inheritance, accumulating 56 Hell Slaughter Arena victories over a year. 52 55 72 78 83

Huangfu Ji is described as delicate and handsome as a child, with refined features and a noble bearing. By age twelve, he is unusually tall at 1.8 meters and has developed a striking, martial appearance. 1 25

Huangfu Ji is patient, calculating, and highly ambitious. While trapped under Yuan Hao's control, he concealed his intentions, gathered information, and focused on becoming strong enough to reclaim Qingyang rather than attempting an unwinnable confrontation. 1 11

He values capable allies but does not idealize loyalty; he recruits people whose interests align with his own and intends to build a new noble faction personally loyal to him. He rejects marriage alliances and Martial Soul Hall's assistance because he refuses to exchange his independence for outside support. 11 53 61 71

Despite his political ambition, he is protective of those close to him. He worries about Liu Erlong's safety, entrusts important responsibilities to Zhou Mu and Wang Zhi, and stands up for the Qingyang students at the Royal Academy. 28 53 78 90
