Background / History

Little Lei Yi emerges during Lin Ming’s awakening in Holy Soul Village. Before the small lightning body forms, three phantoms appear in sequence: Sacred Thunder Lei Yi, King Lei Yi, and Thunder God Lei Yi. The last transfers an inheritance imprint containing the essence of lightning and a path of evolution. These are awakening manifestations, not forms Little Lei Yi is shown freely using afterward 1.

The newly awakened Martial Soul absorbs most of Lin Ming’s innate Soul Power to solidify its body. Consequently, Su Yuntao repeatedly measures Lin Ming at only Level 1 and dismisses the Martial Soul despite the extraordinary phenomenon. Once alone with Lin Ming, Lei Yi communicates images of the three phantoms, nine interconnected dim nodes, and a golden lightning weapon, revealing that Soul Rings are needed to activate its true power 1 2.

At Nuoding Academy, Little Lei Yi develops greater sentience and begins creating skills after Lin Ming casually assigns the task. Lin Ming refuses Yu Xiaogang’s requests to study the Martial Soul, treating Little Lei Yi as a companion rather than an experimental subject. Little Lei Yi subsequently helps him subdue Xiao Chenyu and establish an early-warning system against nearby threats 3 4 5 10.

During their first Soul Ring hunt, Little Lei Yi merges with Lin Ming to defeat a Lightning Leopard, leaving both severely weakened. With protection from Teacher Shen and the Skywater Academy students, Lin Ming absorbs the ring and Little Lei Yi evolves. The pair later return to Nuoding Academy, where Little Lei Yi stops Tang San’s hidden-weapon attack 12 13 14 21.

For much of their four years together, Little Lei Yi conserves energy and remains vigilant while Lin Ming conceals his strength. After Lin Ming reaches Level 20 and graduates early, he publicly reveals Lei Yi’s evolved form. Before leaving for Skywater Academy, he tells Little Lei Yi it no longer needs to hide and may fly, play, and remain outside freely 23 24 25.

Appearance

• Original manifestation: Approximately 30 centimeters tall, entirely composed of pure golden lightning, with indistinct limbs and no clothing or defined facial features. White-gold lightning flames occupy the eye positions 1.
• Daily form: A 10-centimeter humanoid that commonly rests on Lin Ming’s shoulder. Later appearances show large blue eyes and expressive facial movements 3 14 21 25.

Personality

Little Lei Yi is affectionate and strongly attached to Lin Ming, frequently nuzzling his cheek or hand. It dislikes being recalled into his body and responds with pleading looks. Its mood brightens when Lin Ming reassures it that he does not blame it for consuming his innate Soul Power 4 5 25.

Its playful curiosity coexists with a protective streak. It punches Yu Xiaogang after his criticism of remaining manifested, watches Tang San closely when he becomes hostile, and willingly commits its energy to the fusion attack against the Lightning Leopard 4 12 21.

Little Lei Yi also imitates others: it copies Shui Bing’er’s pinky-promise gesture and later follows Lin Ming’s demonstration of how to eat a steamed bun. It develops a fondness for food even though eating does not improve its Soul Power 18 19 23 25.
