Background / History

Xiao Chenyu led a group that routinely bullied Nuoding Academy's Work-Study Students. In the academy cafeteria, he attempted to recruit Lin Ming, then demanded Little Lei Yi as a pet when Lin refused. 5

He was defeated after Lin Ming and Little Lei Yi struck before he could properly respond. Although his Martial Soul Possession gave him formidable physical strength, Little Lei Yi restrained and electrocuted him while Lin Ming immobilized his arms. 5

Forced to kneel, Xiao Chenyu publicly promised three times never to trouble the Work-Study Students again. Lin Ming also warned him that breaking this promise would have consequences. 6

Years later, after graduating from Nuoding Academy, Xiao Chenyu returned as a local thug to confront Lin Ming over rumors about his first Soul Ring. Lin Ming's revealed hundred-year Soul Ring confirmed that Xiao Chenyu had no chance of surpassing him. 23 24

Personality

Xiao Chenyu is arrogant and accustomed to using his followers and social position to intimidate weaker students. He initially treats Little Lei Yi as something that can be claimed as a pet and assumes Lin Ming will submit to him. 5

His confidence falters quickly when faced with resistance. During his defeat, he abandons his threats to stop the pain and complies with Lin Ming's demand. 5 6

By his later confrontation with Lin Ming, he remains confrontational but seeks a definitive answer to the Soul Ring rumors rather than immediately attacking. The revelation leaves him shaken and forces him to accept the gap between them. 24

Xiao Chenyu can activate Martial Soul Possession, greatly increasing his physical strength.

Xiao Chenyu's attempt to bully Lin Ming escalates into a cafeteria confrontation. Lin Ming's preemptive attack defeats him and secures a public promise that he will no longer harass the Work-Study Students. 5 6

Soul Ring Challenge

After Lin Ming's early graduation, Xiao Chenyu confronts him about the unconfirmed rumor of a hundred-year first Soul Ring. Lin Ming reveals Lei Yi's combat form and his yellow Soul Ring, leaving Xiao Chenyu unable to deny the difference in their strength. 23 24
