Background

Shrek Academy began as a small academy in a remote village. Its enrollment fee has remained ten Gold Soul Coins from its founding era to the present, despite its modern status and location in Shrek City 28.

The academy maintains a close relationship with the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. Ning Zhu uses the sect’s yearly direct-admission quota to arrange Ao Yao’s enrollment alongside her daughter, Ning Tian, despite Ao Yao initially not meeting normal admission requirements and objecting to attending 11 12.

Ao Yao ultimately enrolls and enters the freshman dormitories. He is assigned a two-person room, where Wang Dong’er—disguised as the male student Wang Dong—becomes his roommate 28 29.

• Shrek Academy is divided into an outer courtyard and an inner courtyard; the inner courtyard has superior teaching resources and treatment 56.
• Both male and female dormitories house students two per room 56.

Diary Revelations and Internal Unease

Ao Yao’s diary repeatedly challenges Shrek Academy’s reputation. He considers its rules restrictive, distrusts several of its senior figures, and believes it offers little useful instruction for his own path beyond potential access to the Golden Tree 11 13.

The diary predicts that Ma Xiaotao and Tang Ya could become Evil Soul Masters in the future. These claims provoke strong reactions among academy-connected diary holders: Ma Xiaotao rejects the prediction, while Zhang Lexuan considers using advance knowledge to prevent both women from falling into that fate 12 13 23.

Further diary entries lead Ma Xiaotao to question Yan Shaozhe after learning allegations about his past decisions and their possible connection to the rise of the Evil Soul Master Feng Ling 44. The entries later state that Ma Xiaotao is eventually rescued, her Black Phoenix Martial Soul returns to a Fire Phoenix form, and she succeeds Yan Shaozhe as Martial Soul Department dean in the described future 45.

Wang Dong’er also suspects Shrek Academy knows her true gender but deliberately allows her male disguise and placement in a male dormitory to continue 29.

Exchange Program with Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy

Shrek Academy accepts an exchange arrangement with Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy. The program lasts until shortly before the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament 56.

• Shrek sends Fan Yu, He Caitou, and an outstanding inner-courtyard Soul Tool Department student to the Sun Moon Empire 56.
• Shrek receives Xiao Hongchen and Meng Hongchen from Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy 56.
• Yan Shaozhe enrolls the Hongchen siblings as fourth-year outer-courtyard students in the Martial Soul Department rather than the Soul Tool Department 56.
• Yan Shaozhe views the exchange as an opportunity for Shrek to study Sun Moon soul-tool technology, while also intending to demonstrate the strength of Shrek’s Martial Soul Department 56.
• Xiao Hongchen takes his outer-courtyard placement as a challenge and resolves to test into the inner courtyard through his own ability 56.

Future Accounts

The diary describes a future Continental Soul Master Elite Tournament in which Shrek Academy’s official Shrek Seven Devils suffer one death and six injuries during an Evil Soul Master operation led by Xuan Zi. The reserve team, including Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong’er, is then forced to compete early and eventually wins the championship against Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy 12 63.

In the diary’s account of the following tournament, academies and sects are both permitted to participate. Huo Yuhao leads the Shrek Seven Devils on behalf of the Tang Sect, while Wang Qiuer leads a Shrek Academy team including Ning Tian, Wu Feng, Zhu Lu, and Dai Huabin 63.
