Background

Daoist Duobao began as a humble Treasure Mouse. Before becoming an immortal, he fought a demon snake to protect his kin; this fearless resolve left a lasting impression on Sect Master Tongtian. After attaining immortality, he declared his wish to help all beings cross immeasurable tribulations and reach the other shore of the Great Dao. He later became the Sect of Interception's First Disciple, serving Tongtian faithfully and caring deeply for his junior brothers and sisters. 33

His position and authority gradually awakened an obsession with power. Daoist Duobao came to desire leadership over all Saint disciples, and his Only I Am Supreme Dao was born from this longing for supremacy. To consolidate his faction, he sheltered fellow disciples who committed evil deeds, harming the Sect of Interception's reputation, fortune, and merit. 33 39

His cultivation of the demonic Heart Burial Great Law worsened this decline. The art caused him to discard or suppress his own goodness while retaining hypocrisy and malice; its influence also left cracks in his Dao Heart. 66 198

After his actions drew condemnation, Daoist Duobao underwent repeated reincarnation tribulations intended to teach him to genuinely guide others toward righteousness.
