Towering Kunlun, vast mountain ranges, a land of concentrated beauty and divine essence, sacred and boundless, majestic and immense.
Immortal waterfalls cascade down, truly a Milky Way plunging from the nine heavens!
Amid the mountains, Immortal Birds dance, Exotic Beasts scurry, Langyuan Immortal Flowers and Spiritual Root Immortal Grasses abound in every variety, with spiritual energy swirling and immortal aura permeating the air.
The Kunlun Mountains stretch endlessly, divided into East and West Kunlun. East Kunlun is the Dao field of the Three Pure Ones, while West Kunlun is the Dao field of West Queen Mother, the Head of Female Immortals.
When people commonly speak of Kunlun Mountain, they usually refer to East Kunlun.
Kunlun Mountain, Shangqing Hall.
Shangqing Tongtian Dao Lord was meditating on Hun Yuan, lost in timeless contemplation, when his eyes suddenly snapped open like two beams of Sword Qi.
"Why can I not calm my mind to cultivate today?"
Tongtian muttered in confusion, then closed his eyes to begin divining what event had occurred.
After some calculation, he found no result, only knowing that in the south, a bloody celestial fire soared into the sky.
"But what does this have to do with This Seat?"
Tongtian was puzzled, then rose and made his way to Taiqing Hall.
Taiqing Taishang Dao Lord was cultivating; sensing his Third Brother Tongtian's arrival, he paused his practice.
"Third Brother, you were comprehending Hun Yuan. What brings you here today?"
Tongtian recounted what had happened to Taishang.
After listening, Taishang took out the Taiji Diagram and began to calculate. Following a round of deduction, he said, "This matter is a response of the Heavenly Dao and should be related to you, Third Brother. I am not part of this journey, so I do not know the details."
"But I just divined your own fate, Third Brother, and found it to be an omen of Purple Qi Comes from the East—it should be a stroke of fortune."
"You mentioned a bloody celestial fire soaring into the sky; it should be a crisis first, then opportunity."
In the Great Hall, Yuqing Yuanshi had arrived unnoticed. Hearing Taishang's words, he said, "Great Brother, since Third Brother faces crisis first and opportunity later, why don't the three of us go together? Then the crisis will surely vanish, leaving only the opportunity."
"But we must be quick. In my early years, through Heaven-Man Induction, I sensed an opportunity in the Eastern Sea and was about to set out, but it suddenly disappeared without a trace, leaving no response—truly vexing."
Hearing this, Taishang shook his head: "If the three of us go together, the crisis will naturally not exist, but the opportunity might also cease to be."
"As for whether the opportunity is lost, if fate decrees it is there, it will be; if fate decrees it is not, do not force it."
The two pondered this and found it reasonable.
Tongtian: "Great Brother, Second Brother, since the Heavenly Dao has responded, I shall go to the south. What is a mere crisis to fear?"
With that, Shangqing Qi surged into the clouds, and Sword Qi billowed forth.
Taishang looked at him and said, "Third Brother, have you broken through?"
Tongtian nodded. Ever since being impressed by his Great Brother last time, he had broken through to Mid Quasi-Saint a few days ago.
But he had not yet Slain the Corpse.
"Slaying the Corpse truly requires the right time, place, and people—none can be lacking."
Tongtian glanced again at Taishang. Wasn't his own elder brother the one who had never left, Slaying the Corpse right here on Kunlun Mountain? How had he done it?
"Could it be that my Shangqing is truly inferior to Taiqing?"
Taishang did not know why Tongtian was staring at him so intently. Being watched like this by his Third Brother made him feel embarrassed instead.
On Kunlun Mountain, Tongtian bid farewell to Yuanshi and Taishang, traveling straight south until he slowed his pace.
Following the Heaven-Man Induction, he walked slowly across the land.
Just as Tongtian set out for the south, in West Kunlun, a graceful and noble female immortal also sensed something and awoke from her cultivation, opening her eyes.
The female immortal wore a golden crown adorned with purple gems, her hair simply tied back and falling naturally. Clad in a silver-purple long robe, she was dignified and grand, with a phoenix-like majesty.
She was none other than the Head of Female Immortals, the master of West Kunlun—West Queen Mother Taizhen.
Taizhen reached out and tapped. Behind her, a vast, ancient mirror radiating Five-Colored Brilliant Light rapidly shrank and flew into her hand.
This mirror was the Top-tier Innate Spiritual Treasure, the Kunlun Mirror, inscribed with profound Dao patterns, possessing the power to reflect all things and break through time and space.
West Queen Mother's Jade Hand spread open and gently brushed across the mirror's surface. The Kunlun Mirror rotated, its time-space power spreading, and soon came to a stop.
Within the mirror's surface appeared a scene from the Southern Primordial World—Southern Heaven.
Putting away the Kunlun Mirror, West Queen Mother's delicate brows furrowed slightly. She could not figure out what was happening in Southern Heaven.
"Xuan Nü."
From outside, a valiant female immortal clad in silver armor walked in.
"Xuan Nü pays respects to Lady."
West Queen Mother said with a hint of displeasure, "How many times have I told you? We should address each other as sisters. You are still so formal. Call me Sister."
Xuan Nü: "Lady..."
"Call me Sister!"
West Queen Mother finally smiled and said, "Call me that from now on. If you dare use any other title, be careful—I'll give you a beating ┏(^ω^)."
Xuan Nü nodded helplessly.
"I called you here today because I will be leaving West Kunlun for a time. During my absence, all matters of West Kunlun will be your responsibility."
"Sister, what business takes you away? Is there anything I can help with? As for staying behind, why not leave it to Lu Wu and the others?"
West Queen Mother shook her head and said, "This matter is no ordinary affair. Today, my heart sensed something—something is happening in the south. Your cultivation is still too low; going there would do you no good."
Hearing this, Xuan Nü said no more. If even the Queen Mother said it was no ordinary matter, then even if she went, she would not only be unable to help but would also become a burden.
"Sister, you must be careful. I will wait for you at West Kunlun."
Having given her instructions, West Queen Mother headed south, straight for Southern Heaven.
At this moment, Donghua remained immersed in his comprehension of the great formation. Within his body, the Purple Mansion World continuously evolved, yet it failed time and again.
A single formation was not difficult; the difficulty lay in fusing them together, making up for each other's deficiencies.
Donghua refused to give up and tried again.
From nothing came something, from the Wuji came the Taiji, and then he traced out one formation after another, bit by bit.
He attempted fusion once more. This time, with the experience of several previous fusions, the process went smoothly, unimpeded.
But in the end, he got stuck at the step of fusing the Four Symbols with the Five Elements. No matter how Donghua tried, it was to no avail, and the entire great formation ultimately collapsed.
Slowly exhaling a mouthful of Turbid Qi, Donghua stopped his deduction and research.
This was no longer a problem of deduction—it was that his own enlightenment of the Dao was insufficient to achieve fusion.
Counting on his fingers, he realized that this session of deduction had already caused him to miss King Pan's 300th Death Anniversary.
"Senior Primordial Phoenix, when will the Heavenly Secret you spoke of arrive? We only have three hundred years left."
"No need to rush. This is not merely a matter of life and death for my Phoenix Clan."
"If the Volcano of Immortality erupts, the entire southern Primordial World Continent cannot escape disaster. Thus, the Heavenly Dao will surely sense it, and a Person of Calamity will come."
Hearing this, Donghua understood. If this place were merely a man-made disaster, the Heavenly Dao would naturally not respond. But when man-made disaster was paired with the heavenly disaster of the Volcano of Immortality, it was different.
This was a heavenly disaster that threatened the entire Primordial World Continent. The Heavenly Dao would surely give a warning, and under that warning, the Person of Calamity would appear.
It was like the protagonists in those novels Donghua had read in his Previous Life—born to meet the times.
Unfortunately, this was the Primordial World Continent, and there were no protagonists.
Although Donghua had lived two lives, he dared not claim to be the protagonist of this continent. At best, he had foreknowledge in certain areas.
And whether that foreknowledge was true or false remained unknown.
If one were to say the Primordial World Continent truly had a protagonist, Donghua felt it must be Hongjun.
Next in line might be the future Six Sages: the Three Pure Ones, Nuwa, and Jieyin and Zhunti.
The rest were far behind and could not be called the protagonists of the Primordial World.
