The Divine Beast Is Born!!!

The Fatty wasn't dead? How was that possible? He was so weak that he couldn't have escaped the collapsing building in time.

He had rescued everyone trapped inside the building. Everyone except the Fatty.

But Omniscient said the Fatty wasn't dead!

Jiang Chen didn't believe him.

He said, "Could you not joke around? Is this kind of joke supposed to be funny?"

Omniscient heard the faint sob in Jiang Chen's voice and realized that he was truly upset.

But he wasn't lying!

The Fatty really was alive.

Omniscient was the Zanpakuto known as The Almighty. He knew everything that happened in the world, so how could he lie?

Seeing how clearly Jiang Chen didn't believe him,

Omniscient pointed at the sky and said, "In three seconds, the Fatty will fall from up there. Make sure you catch him, or he'll really fall to his death!"

Jiang Chen didn't answer. He was sunk deep in grief.

He didn't want to speak at all!

Just then, the Fatty's voice came from the sky...

"Ah! Help!!!"

The Fatty's voice was loud. Jiang Chen was sure he hadn't imagined it.

Could the Fatty really still be alive?

At the thought,

Jiang Chen abruptly raised his head and looked up.

A ball of flesh was plummeting toward the ground at high speed!

With a body that fat, who else in the whole school could it be but the Fatty?

Without a second thought, Jiang Chen used Flash Step to reach the air and grab the Fatty by the collar.

The Fatty's round face was still full of shock, but the moment he saw Jiang Chen, his expression lit up. "Brother Chen!"

Before Jiang Chen could say anything, he heard a loud rip!

The Fatty's collar tore in his grasp.

Without Jiang Chen holding him, the Fatty started falling rapidly again.

He cried out, "Brother Chen, help!"

Jiang Chen quickly used Flash Step again and grabbed the Fatty by the arm.

Once he knew he was safe, the Fatty gulped in several breaths of fresh air.

He shouted, "Brother Chen, thanks for coming to save me!"

"I really thought I was going to hit the ground and turn into a meat pancake!"

Jiang Chen brought the Fatty back to the ground.

Then he looked him up and down and asked with concern, "Fatty, how are you? Does anything feel wrong?"

"Everything's fine except my heart's beating a little fast!"

The Fatty noticed Jiang Chen staring at him in disbelief and looked puzzled. "Brother Chen, why are you looking at me like that?"

"I'm really fine!"

"Thank goodness, Fatty! You're all right!"

Zhang Banxian rushed over and threw his arms around the Fatty's chubby body.

"Waaah!" He burst into tears.

"Let go! I can't breathe! What did you mean by that, Zhang Banxian? You make it sound like you wanted something to happen to me!"

The Fatty had to struggle with all his might to break free of Zhang Banxian's embrace.

He demanded, "What did you mean by what you just said?"

"I treated you like a brother, and you were hoping something would happen to me!"

Zhang Banxian wiped away his tears and sniffled before telling the Fatty, "The building collapsed. We rescued everyone, but we couldn't find you. We thought..."

The Fatty looked confused. When had the building collapsed?

How come he hadn't known?

When he turned and saw the collapsed building behind him, he stared in surprise and asked, "What's going on? I don't remember any of this. I just remember eating in class, then the ground started shaking..."

"And then I was suddenly up in the air."

"I don't know anything about what you're talking about!"

That left Zhang Banxian and Jiang Chen puzzled.

The building had collapsed so suddenly that there hadn't been enough time to escape.

The Fatty's ability was weak, too. He shouldn't have been able to get away from the disaster in time.

So how had he escaped the scene and ended up in the air?

"Ah! Something's moving in my stomach!!!"

The Fatty felt something strange in his belly and yelled in fright.

Zhang Banxian and Jiang Chen hurried over to look. Sure enough, something was moving beneath the Fatty's clothes!

"Brother Chen, help me!"

The Fatty instinctively called out to Jiang Chen for help.

He was terrified!

Jiang Chen couldn't tell what it was, and he didn't want to risk striking it, so all he could do was watch for the moment.

"Brother Chen, it's moving up to my neck!"

"Could it be a demon?"

The Fatty's face went pale with fear.

"No!"

Jiang Chen was absolutely certain of that.

No demon template had appeared before him.

So he was sure that whatever was on the Fatty wasn't a demon.

If it wasn't a demon, then what was it?

Jiang Chen could only speculate as he kept a close eye on what was happening to the Fatty.

The thing wriggling beneath the Fatty's clothes suddenly darted out through his collar.

It was tiny, even smaller than a kitten. Its fur was soft and smooth. It settled on the Fatty's shoulder, found a comfortable spot, yawned, curled up its legs, and fell asleep.

The Fatty stood perfectly still, too afraid to move. He glanced at the strange creature on his shoulder and saw that it had three eyes.

It looked so strange—not like a cat, a dog, a marten, or a squirrel.

No matter how he looked at it, it seemed like a demon.

At the thought that it might be a demon, he froze in fear and looked to Jiang Chen for help, hoping he'd hurry up and think of something.

Jiang Chen hadn't expected the little creature on the Fatty's shoulder, either.

Judging by its appearance, it was most likely either a demon beast or a magical beast.

The system hadn't shown anything,

but that didn't mean this creature wasn't a demon or a magical beast.

Demon beasts and magical beasts were bloodthirsty and brutal by nature.

It couldn't be allowed to live.

Otherwise, Jiang Chen couldn't guarantee the Fatty's safety.

He raised his Zanpakuto, ready to kill the creature on the Fatty's shoulder, when Omniscient said, "You dare kill a Divine Beast? Aren't you afraid of the backlash?"

What???

Jiang Chen was astonished. He'd never imagined that the little creature lying on the Fatty was a Divine Beast.

How could that be...

"What makes that impossible? Your friend already has a trace of Divine Beast Bloodline. It only makes sense that he'd form a contract with a Divine Beast."

Omniscient glanced at the Fatty and said, "Besides, this creature's bloodline power was sealed. The seal cracked a little when its life was in danger, allowing it to complete the contract with the Divine Beast."

So that was it!!!

Jiang Chen nodded, indicating that he understood.

To be safe, it was best not to let too many people know that the Fatty had contracted with a Divine Beast.

He remembered the Fatty once complaining to him that everyone else had at least a support-type ability that could be useful. His ability, on the other hand, was a single egg.

An egg that hadn't hatched in ten years.

It was completely useless.

He'd once joked, "Who in the whole world could be more useless than me?"

Perhaps this Divine Beast had something to do with the egg.

With that in mind, Jiang Chen asked, "Fatty, is the egg you contracted with still in your spiritual space?"

The Fatty didn't know why Jiang Chen was asking, but he followed his instructions and checked.

After taking a look, he said in surprise, "Brother Chen, the egg in my spiritual space is gone."

"Then there's no doubt!"

"The little fellow on your shoulder should be your Contract Beast. If you don't believe me, check it with your ability."

Sure enough, the Fatty used his ability to sense it, and felt a faint connection between himself and the little beast.

So that meant his egg had hatched, and his ability was finally useful.

But...

"Brother Chen, why does this little beast feel so weak? It's like it's about to die!!!"
