Background / History
Previous Life
Tang San was an Outer Sect disciple of the Tang Sect. He was stubborn, pursued perfection, and possessed talent for hidden weapons, but the sect's bloodline-based system limited his prospects as an Outer Sect member. 2
He attempted to enter the Library Pavilion's forbidden eighth floor in search of treasures after the Seventeenth Elder's illegitimate son took his rightful place in the Outer Sect Grand Tournament. Tang Ling investigated the injustice, restored his Inner Sect position, and taught him the Mysterious Heaven Skill. 122
Tang San became Tang Ling's junior brother, accepted the codename A-Xuan, and chose the Fingertip Blade as his preferred weapon. Their connection developed into loyalty after Tang Ling repeatedly protected and supported him. 123
He later died after jumping from Ghostfall Cliff, though he initially concealed this from Tang Ling by claiming he died during a mission accident. 5
Reincarnation in Holy Soul Village
Reincarnated as Tang Hao and Ah Yin's son, Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village under the care of his neglectful father, known locally as Tang Blacksmith. At three years old, he cooked and washed clothes while remaining thin and underfed. 4 5
Tang Ling found him meditating in the mountains. He immediately recognized her voice and her old nickname for him, A-Xuan. 4 After learning of his circumstances, she offered to take him away; Tang San agreed without hesitation. 5
Tang San learned that his original Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer Martial Souls had been installed through the foreign Heavenly Dao's interference. He chose to surrender the Blue Silver Emperor Mark and its Martial Soul inheritance so Ah Yin could eventually be saved. 6 8 9
Tang Ling removed the foreign Heavenly Dao imprint and extracted Ah Yin's soul-related mark during the painful awakening process. Little Heavenly Dao then provided Tang San with the Five Elements Faceless Disc as a replacement Martial Soul. 9
Separation from His Bloodline
Tang San disowned Tang Hao after learning of Ah Yin's fate and resolved to acknowledge only his mother. 6 After the campaign against the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Ling severed his bloodline karma with Tang Hao and later Ah Yin. 72
Although Ah Yin subsequently regained a new existence through a Blue Silver Grass Spirit Ring, Tang San's severed bloodline and status as the Son of the Heavenly Dao left him classified as a Spirit Body rather than a human or soul beast. 72 73
Appearance
Tang San is first depicted as a thin, sickly-looking three-year-old with sweat-soaked forehead hair and a tense expression while meditating alone in the mountains. 4 After three years of training, he grows taller and becomes more reserved. 14
- Frequently blushes or becomes visibly embarrassed around Tang Ling. 17 123
- Possesses a pure white soul, despite the foreign Heavenly Dao's mark once being present within him. 6
- His Five Elements Faceless Disc manifests as a black disc; when using Eagle Eye Tracking, it produces a golden arrow. 21
- His Fingertip Blade manifests as a sharp short blade held between two fingers. 14
Personality
Tang San is disciplined, determined, and unusually mature for his age. He practices diligently, follows Tang Ling's training plans, and works to master unfamiliar weapons rather than relying solely on his natural talent. 13 21
He is compassionate toward people treated unfairly, including the bullied work-study students at Notting Academy and victims of the Clear Sky Sect's brutality. 18 59 However, he can also be cold and decisive toward aggressors, using poisons and Tang Sect techniques without hesitation when he believes they are warranted. 19 26 27
Tang San is intensely loyal to Tang Ling and openly relies on her protection. He is protective of her in return, struggles when she leaves him behind for dangerous missions, and ultimately swears to care for her. 19 64 72
