History

Dragon-Han Tribulation

Hongjun monitored changes in the Heavenly Dao and repeatedly found the Phoenix Clan—and Ling Tian in particular—impossible to calculate fully. He concluded that the sealed Southern Ming Undying Volcano and Yuan Feng’s unborn child were major variables in the tribulation. 25 33

When Rahu attempted to kill the mortally wounded Ancestral Dragon and First Qilin, Hongjun intervened with a white jade golden bridge. He claimed that the Heavenly Dao required both clan leaders to survive. 74

Hongjun later faced Rahu directly within the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation. After Yang Mei abandoned him, he revealed his hidden trump card: the Good Corpse, Evil Corpse, and Obsession Corpse, each possessing Perfected Primordial Golden Immortal cultivation. 100

Ascension and the Purple Cloud Palace

After the Dragon-Han Tribulation, Hongjun reunited his Three Corpses and ascended to sainthood. The Heavenly Dao then granted him techniques beyond the Heavenly Dao Saint realm, beginning his deeper integration with it. 109 110

He lectured at Purple Cloud Palace for three thousand years and established himself as the Primordial World’s Dao Ancestor. Ling Tian secretly transmitted the sermon to the Phoenix Clan, allowing numerous Phoenix Clan members to gain insights and breakthroughs from Hongjun’s teachings. 125 126

Hongjun distributed six strands of Hongmeng Purple Qi to Laozi, Yuanshi, Tongtian, Nuwa, Zunti, and Jieyin, retaining one strand for himself. His intent was to direct their paths to sainthood and secure their obedience. 197

Campaign Against the Phoenix Clan

Hongjun declared the Phoenix Clan a “malignant tumor” of the Primordial World and began fully merging with the Dao. His plan was to suppress cultivation through Laws, make the Path of Slaying the Three Corpses the dominant route to sainthood, and eventually use the Saints under his influence to eradicate the Phoenix Clan. 199

His plans repeatedly suffered setbacks. Ling Tian exposed and destroyed the poison within Hongmeng Purple Qi, prevented Tongtian from becoming another controlled Saint, and forced Hongjun into concessions after the Phoenix Clan defeated the Four Saints. 219 246 266

During the Witch-Demon Tribulation, Hongjun’s Heavenly Dao Eye was destroyed by Ling Tian. Though angered and humiliated, he refused to emerge personally because further intervention would compromise his merger with the Heavenly Dao. 303

Fall and Final Defeat

After prematurely ending the Witch-Demon Tribulation, Hongjun reached the ninth level of Heavenly Dao Saint and attacked Ling Tian. Ling Tian trapped him with the Yin Yang Grinding Disc and Chaos Seven Stars Array, ultimately annihilating him despite the protection of the Fragment of the Jade Plate of Creation. 382 385

Hongjun later returned to prominence after becoming a Saint Who Has Merged with the Dao. He challenged the Phoenix Clan, wagered the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation against Yuan Feng, and lost. Rather than honor his Great Dao oath to seal Purple Cloud Palace and cease interfering in the Primordial World, he violated it to rescue the fallen Saints. 437 485 486

His final campaign shattered the Phoenix Clan’s Innate Chaos Grand Array and brought its defenders to the brink of defeat. Ling Tian returned from the Land of God-Demons, overwhelmed Hongjun, and killed him, ending the era of Purple Cloud Palace’s dominance. 488 492
