Background

Kun Peng originated in the North Sea as a solitary dragon-eating predator. It possesses two forms: the enormous fish-like Kun and the bird-like Peng. By remaining in Peng form except when feeding, it concealed its nature from the Dragon Clan for years. 44

Its appetite for dragon flesh ultimately led it into a Dragon Clan trap. Two young dragons lured it with spiritual roots while secretly advancing to Grand Unity Golden Immortal, allowing Great Sun Heavenly Dragon Ao Yue to immobilize and severely injure Kun Peng. 44 45

Ling Tian killed Ao Yue and freed Kun Peng, then prevented it from escaping. With Dragon Clan experts closing in, Kun Peng accepted the role of Ling Tian’s servant in exchange for protection; Ling Tian immediately used Kun Peng as a mount during their flight to Southern Ming Undying Volcano. 47 48

Though initially resentful of being tricked into service and denied dragon meat or rewards, Kun Peng remained with Ling Tian. After Kong Xuan and Great Peng were born, Ling Tian publicly designated him as his mount. 68 105

Appearance

Kun Peng can alternate between an immense aquatic Kun form and a colossal Peng form. Its true Peng form reaches roughly ten thousand miles in size, while its humanoid manifestation appears as an arrogant youth. 44 176 646

  • Kun form — can disguise itself as a sea island and cultivate spiritual roots on its body to lure prey. 44
  • Peng form — a vast bird with wings described as cloud-like; its pitch-black wings can become lethal streams of light in battle. 176 335
  • Eyes — turned pure gold after absorbing Heavenly Dao Merit. 176
  • Humanoid form — presented as a domineering young man during the King Level Invincible Path. 646

Personality

Kun Peng is intelligent, cautious, and predatory. It recognized the Dragon Clan’s ambush almost immediately and attempted to escape rather than fight an unwinnable battle. 44 Its natural arrogance often surfaces as provocation, mockery, and opportunistic extortion—particularly against enemies at Purple Cloud Palace. 120 121 149

Despite frequent complaints about Ling Tian’s orders, Kun Peng is deeply loyal to him. Ling Tian’s protection and guidance transformed Kun Peng from an isolated North Sea cultivator into a confident figure willing to confront stronger opponents. 115 177 It can also act sociably when instructed, quickly befriending Hongyun and Zhenyuanzi despite its usual aloofness. 118
