Background / History

Shisui was already renowned across Konoha's eastern front as the Uchiha Clan's foremost genius. His speed was described as nearly teleportation, and Kirigakure shinobi feared him by name; he and Namikaze Minato were regarded as Konoha's rising stars. At fourteen, he was one year younger than Hyuga Ritsu, whom he addressed as “Senior.” 35 36

Before their deployment to Shigushan Mountain, Shisui and Ritsu had fought Kirigakure together on multiple occasions and developed a friendship. Though he was the more famous prodigy, Shisui readily accepted Ritsu's battlefield command because Ritsu had proven capable of directing him effectively. 36

At Shigushan Mountain, Shisui reinforced Konoha's collapsing earthen fort alongside Ritsu. His presence alone alarmed the Kirigakure attackers, whose Hidden Mist Technique was ineffective against the Sharingan and Byakugan. During a later ambush by more than fifty Mist shinobi, he broke through an encirclement of over forty enemies and was assigned to contain Hōzuki Mangetsu while Ritsu handled the main force. 39 42

Following the fighting, Shisui prioritized repairing defenses and clearing the battlefield while Ritsu remained behind to train. Their differing priorities became apparent: Shisui was anxious to return to duty, whereas Ritsu saw the delay as a chance to strengthen himself. 47

Orochimaru later entrusted Shisui with interrogating captured Mist commander Suikazan Fuguki through genjutsu. Shisui constructed an illusion in which Fuguki believed he had been returned to Kirigakure for questioning, allowing Konoha to extract intelligence regarding the ambush on Ritsu. 94 95 96

During Konoha's operation against Kirigakure, Shisui revealed that he had previously encountered the Six-Tails jinchūriki. His genjutsu had confused the tailed beast and driven it berserk, forcing the jinchūriki to withdraw; Shisui had withheld this intelligence because he considered the incomplete victory embarrassing. 132 135

Minato selected Shisui for the Hokage Guard, helping demonstrate that the Fourth Hokage intended to integrate the Uchiha into the village rather than marginalize them. Shisui mastered the Four Red Yang Formation in one week, impressing Minato enough that he considered him a possible future Hokage. 152 157

While combating the clones created by Uchiha Ryūban, Shisui defeated the Chiyo clone and later sealed the Shimura Danzō clone with the Karma Binding Seal. He and Hiruko then held off an Uchiha Madara clone, with Shisui's speed and swordsmanship improving under the pressure of battle. The clone's Deep Forest Emergence ultimately rendered both fighters unconscious through its pollen. 192 194 198

During Uchiha Ryūban's later attack on Konoha, Shisui finally revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan and an emerald-green Susanoo. He was overwhelmed by a pale-yellow Susanoo, reanimated Uchiha Madara, and a replica Senju Hashirama, leaving him severely wounded before Ritsu arrived to relieve the pressure. 241 242

Shisui is a young Uchiha with black hair, black eyes, handsome features, and a distinctive button nose. He wears a standard blue-black Uchiha combat uniform, a Konoha forehead protector, and carries a sword across his back. 36

Personality

He is intensely loyal to Konoha and conscientious about his duties. Ritsu considers this devotion excessive, believing Shisui has been shaped by the Will of Fire and is therefore unsuitable for anti-establishment plans involving the Uchiha Clan. 47

Shisui also cares about both his village and clan. He joined Deba and Tadarame's investigation into fallen Uchiha records, became frustrated when allied shinobi failed to commit themselves in battle, and was willing to risk his eyesight and life to hold back the Madara clone. 99 195 224
