Behind the throne cast from black iron stood a huge blue-stone statue that reached all the way to the ceiling.
On the throne, a dwarf with a golden crown and white hair rested his right elbow on the gilded armrest, his palm supporting his chin. His crimson silk shirt stretched snugly over his powerful frame. Snow-white brows knitted above a deeply furrowed face that radiated authority, while his deep-set eyes held a trace of worry and fatigue.
Two dwarf attendants in white robes stood on either side before him. When they saw the visitors, they leaned in and whispered to him.
"Elder, the people you requested are here."
Kelvin walked up to the man and bowed.
"Letho, Witcher of the School of the Viper, and Roy, his apprentice. My dear nephew Sevir speaks highly of you, which is rare. I trust you have the skill to back it up and won't disappoint me..."
The old dwarf's hoarse voice echoed through the palace corridor, like rock grinding against gravel. His words rose and fell with an unmistakable ancient cadence, leaving a lasting impression.
The Elder was as sturdy as a lion, yet the years weighed heavily on him. He was so old that even among the long-lived dwarves, he was considered exceptionally aged.
