Background / History

The Uchiha were one of Konoha’s founding clans, established through the reconciliation of the Uchiha and Senju. They chose to remain with the First Hokage rather than leave the village with Uchiha Madara. 103 106

Their relationship with Konoha’s leadership deteriorated by the Second Hokage’s era and continued worsening into the present. The clan is frequently treated with suspicion and discrimination despite its institutional role in maintaining public security. 103 106

During the Nine-Tails’ Rampage, the clan’s lack of direct action against the Nine-Tails contributed to suspicion toward it, particularly because the Sharingan is associated with controlling Tailed Beasts. Uchiha members were nevertheless shown organizing civilian evacuations and protecting women and children. The actual culprit, Obito Uchiha, acted independently out of resentment. 51 79

Appearance

Uchiha ninja are readily identified by their clan emblems and, among those who have awakened it, the crimson Sharingan.

Personality

The clan is portrayed as highly sensitive to its reputation and autonomy within Konoha. Its members resent being excluded or treated as a threat by the village’s leadership, and they react strongly when outsiders intrude on matters under their jurisdiction. 103 104

This does not make the clan uniformly irrational. During the Orphanage incident, its captain quickly recognized the political value of exposing illegal experimentation linked to a Hokage-controlled institution and used the discovery to challenge the clan’s marginalization. 106

Sharingan

The Uchiha’s principal kekkei genkai is the Sharingan, though not every clan member is shown possessing the same level of development.

Nine-Tails’ Rampage

The clan’s apparent inactivity during the crisis becomes a major source of political suspicion because the Sharingan is believed capable of controlling the Nine-Tails. At the same time, Uchiha ninja assist with civilian evacuation, complicating the accusation against the clan as a whole. 55 79

Uchiha Residential Area Infiltration

Yuzuru enters the clan district seeking Uchiha chakra and information on the Mangekyo Sharingan. He kills several Uchiha ninja in the dungeon, clashes with a responding squad, and tests his ability to counter Sharingan genjutsu. 79 80 81

Orphanage Incident

Yuzuru attacks the Military Police Force as a provocation, then uses a Shadow Clone to lure Uchiha ninja into the Orphanage’s hidden underground chamber. There, they discover evidence of forbidden human experimentation and recognize that they have been maneuvered into exposing it. 104 105

The clan seizes the opportunity to publicly challenge the Hokage’s office, detains Orphanage personnel, and takes Yakushiji Funian into custody after he is captured. 106 109
