Background / History
Bone first appears near Yuan Tianzong’s former home at Wangwu Mountain while attempting to attach a python skull to his body. Startled by Yuan Tianzong’s approach, he panics so severely that his skeleton scatters apart before his bones reassemble and flee. Yuan Tianzong notices that Bone’s body is assembled from differently colored, mismatched bones and that his reactions show unusual intelligence. 21 22
While fleeing, Bone is cornered by a Transformed Wild Boar. After exhausting nearby stones, he tears off and throws his own ribs, then removes an arm bone to use as a weapon. Yuan Tianzong kills the boar before it can finish him. Bone accepts Yuan Tianzong’s invitation to stay at the wooden house, and Yuan names him “Bone.” 22
Initially unable to speak beyond jaw-clacking sounds, Bone communicates through gestures, nods, and written Chinese. He learns to write within a little over half a month, records his unique Breathing Technique for Yuan Tianzong, and addresses him as “Master.” Yuan Tianzong tacitly accepts him as a disciple and resolves to protect him in return for the technique. 22 25
As Yuan Tianzong hunts stronger Evolved Beasts, Bone refines their remains into his own body. The True Ape’s spine strengthens his frame, while the Tree Python’s skeleton becomes a predatory skull. By the time Yuan Tianzong leaves Wangwu Mountain for Mount Tai, Bone follows without hesitation, eager to replace all of his bones with stronger materials. 30 31 53
At Mount Tai, Bone gathers exotic fruits, guards Yuan Tianzong during his breakthrough into the Ancient Qi Refiner path, and protects him while he remains hidden underground. He is injured and loses bones while resisting the surrounding Evolved Beasts and mutants, prompting Yuan Tianzong to promise compensation. 67 71 72
After refining Great Sage Descendant remains, Bone becomes a regular defender of Jade Emperor Peak and later confronts the Black Fish Creatures emerging during the Water Calamity. He continues accompanying Yuan Tianzong during the investigation of the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum’s disappearance. 90 91 109

Personality
Bone begins with the incomplete knowledge of a newborn despite possessing basic logic and survival instincts. He is timid around Yuan Tianzong at first, obediently follows instructions, and instinctively treats his rescue and shelter as a debt deserving repeated kowtows. 22 23
He is highly receptive to learning. Bone rapidly acquires literacy, becomes proficient with a mobile phone, learns to collect valuable incense ash, and adapts his hunting methods to avoid leaving blood or scents that would alert Evolved Beasts. 25 26 47 71
Bone is deeply loyal to Yuan Tianzong and consistently prioritizes guarding his master’s cultivation, home, Dao seed, and supplies over his own affairs. His growing emotional attachments are shown through his concern for Yuan Tianzong during secluded cultivation and his longing for Xue Ding and Xiao Ya. 31 35 47 51 75
