History

Transformation and territorial conflict

During the resurgence of cultivation, Mount Tai becomes a focal point for powerful mutants, Evolved Beasts, sects, and independent cultivators. Rumors of the Dragon King’s defeat there attract the Bull Demon King and other ambitious figures seeking to establish territory on the mountain. 46

By the time Yuan Tianzong arrives with Bone, Mount Tai has expanded dramatically: clouds drift across its middle slopes, towering peaks stretch toward the sky, and vital energy coils around the mountain. Its exceptional spiritual environment draws Evolved Beasts, mutants, and cultivation factions alike. 53

A mass emergence of exotic fruits turns Mount Tai into a sacred site for mutants. Newly transformed beings drive cultivation forces from their territories, declaring the mountain theirs. 68 The conflict culminates when the Moon Snake, a silver-white Great Sage Descendant, seizes the Sword Sect’s spirit treasure sword and orders humans to leave Mount Tai before dawn. 70 The Sword Sect is forced out, while the Huaxia government evacuates civilians from the region due to the threat posed by Evolved Beasts. 71

Reclamation by Yuan Tianzong

While hidden beneath Mount Tai, Yuan Tianzong senses and fuses with its Earth Emperor Mother Qi, using it to establish the Source of Innate Inner Qi and enter the path of an Ancient Qi Refiner. 72 After emerging, he clears the mountain of hostile beasts and mutants, declaring that the state of Mount Tai is his decision. 72

Yuan Tianzong then pursues the Great Sage Descendant underground and kills it with assistance from the returning Sword Sect. 73 In the aftermath, the Sword Sect regains Mount Tai and its leader grants Yuan Tianzong control of Jade Emperor Peak. Yuan accepts only that peak, forbidding entry without his permission while leaving the rest of the mountain available to other cultivators. 74

Fortification

Yuan Tianzong later masters the Mount Tai Crystal, which greatly improves the efficiency of his cultivation on the mountain. 111 Using his connection to the Crystal, he identifies all eighty-one dragon pool nodes of Mount Tai. The Sword Sect places origin crystals at each node, activating the Mountain Sea Grand Formation. 111

The completed formation produces a golden dragon phantom that merges into Yuan Tianzong, while Mount Tai’s earth vein revives and contributes to the wider acceleration of vital-energy recovery. 111 112
