Background / History
Lei Ao was Lei Mu's adopted son and one of Lei Hall's Four Great Protectors. Lei Hall was Qingcheng City's foremost power, while Lei Ao personally maintained a manor in the western suburbs near Baili Slope. 11 21
He became involved in the conspiracy surrounding Golden Wind Fine Rain Tower's Huo Village mine. The mine contained Void Nether Stones, which Qin Hao sought to secure for the cultivation scheme involving the Blood Demon Flower. Lei Ao acted under Qin Hao's orders to pressure Ling Tianhe into surrendering the mine. 16 19
Qin Hao had effectively enslaved Lei Ao through subtle manipulation. At Qin Hao's prompting, Lei Ao hired assassins from Happy Pure Tower to murder Su Mengbai; the assassins remained at Lei Ao's residence because Qin Hao intended to later frame both them and Lei Ao. 29
Lei Ao first visited Ling Tianhe at night, demanding the Huo Village iron mine in exchange for Ling Tianhe's life. When he discovered that Ling Tianhe was injured, he withdrew rather than pressing the attack. 14 He returned the following day and disclosed the mine's Void Nether Stone deposit, inadvertently confirming his and the Lei Family's connection to Su Mengbai's assassination. 19
Su Chen lured Lei Ao out of Lei Hall with a fleeing figure, cornered him in an alley with Bai Tianyu blocking his escape, and killed him. Su Chen first severed Lei Ao's hand with the Fine Rain Blade, then froze his arm with the Ice Qilin Arm before beheading him. 20 Lei Ao's head was hung at Lei Hall's entrance beside the assassin's, publicly framing the deaths as revenge. 21
Appearance
Lei Ao appeared to be around thirty years old. He was thin, with unusually large exposed palms and sharp, falcon-like eyes. 14
- Firm, muscular upper body marked by flashing lightning patterns while cultivating. 20
- His large hands reflected his focus on palm- and fist-based combat. 14
Personality
Lei Ao was ambitious and opportunistic. He defected to Qin Hao in pursuit of cultivation resources that could help him overcome his stalled progress with the Lei Python Force. 20
He relied on intimidation when dealing with weaker political opponents, threatening Ling Tianhe's life to seize the Huo Village mine. However, he was cautious enough to retreat after discovering Ling Tianhe's injuries, suggesting that his visit had a purpose beyond a simple assault. 14
Abilities & Skills
Innate Mid-stage Cultivation
Lei Ao possessed Innate Mid-stage strength, placing him among Lei Hall's principal combatants. 19 20
- His cultivation had stagnated at the Innate Mid-stage because he could not advance the Lei Python Force beyond its third layer. 20
- He was considered slightly weaker than an uninjured Ling Tianhe, who was nearing the Innate Late-stage. 14
- Lei Gu's later examination concluded that the force which killed him was likely above the Innate Realm. 22
Lei Python Force
Lei Ao cultivated the Lei Family's Lei Python Force, a lightning-attribute Innate inner-qi technique. 20
- The technique has five layers; Lei Ao had reached the third. 20
- Its lightning qi provided high offensive power and body-tempering effects. 20
- He used lightning-infused fists and palms in combat, including an attempt to block the Fine Rain Blade with lightning qi. 20
- Su Chen's Ice Qilin Arm shattered his lightning power and froze his arm, decisively overpowering the technique. 20
Movement and Close-Quarters Combat
Lei Ao could leave afterimages through rapid movement and exchanged strikes with Ling Tianhe during their confrontation. 14
- Evaded Ling Tianhe's initial palm strike with high-speed movement. 14
- Fought primarily with fists, palms, and lightning qi. 14 20
- Failed to escape once Bai Tianyu blocked the alley and Su Chen engaged him directly. 20
