Let Im's Memory Fly for a While!
"Wow!"
"That was a really fierce fight!" Luffy's eyes lit up as he looked at the devastated battlefield, jumping for joy.
Ace and Sabo followed closely behind, their expressions much more serious. They were keenly aware of the lingering aura of the two terrifying Conqueror's Haki clashes that had not yet completely dissipated in the air.
Usopp's gaze was fixed on one figure from the moment he jumped onto the floating island.
He was a man with dreadlocks, holding a long gun, and looking forlorn.
Even from dozens of meters away, even though the man was just a silhouette, Usopp recognized him at a glance.
His heart skipped a beat, his nose suddenly stung, and his eyes involuntarily welled up with tears.
"Hey, Usopp, what are you spacing out for!" Luffy waved his hand and asked curiously, "I think I just heard you calling someone's father? Is your father here?"
Usopp took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing all his surging emotions, then straightened his chest, looked at Yasopp, and called out again in a trembling voice, "Father!"
Yasopp slowly turned around, and when he saw the boy with a long nose almost identical to his own, tears in his eyes, yet forcing a proud smile, he was struck dumb, frozen in place.
Usopp!
My son!
They've grown so big!
Yasopp's lips moved a few times, but he couldn't utter a single word. Guilt, relief, bitterness, and a mix of other emotions overwhelmed him like a flood.
In pursuit of pirate freedom, he abandoned his wife and children to follow Shanks in his battles across the land, helping Shanks stabilize his position as one of the Yonko of the New World. He thought he had long since grown accustomed to this life and had buried his past.
But when the boy with his bloodline stood alive before him, looking at him with those clear and adoring eyes, Yasopp realized that the guilt had never disappeared; it had simply been hidden deep within his heart.
"Father! I'm the future top sniper in the Navy!" Seeing his father's lack of reaction, Usopp assumed he wasn't impressive enough, so he puffed out his chest and thumped it loudly. "I'm now a member of the Lord Marshal's personal guard, commanding... no, ten thousand men!"
As he spoke, he nervously glanced at Luffy and the others, afraid that his boast would be exposed on the spot.
However, Yasopp didn't care whether his words were true or false.
He simply stared at Usopp's face, both familiar and unfamiliar, at his clumsy attempts to appear manly in front of him, and his defenses completely crumbled.
He was an irresponsible father who had neglected his family for years, but his son not only did not resent him, but regarded him as an idol and was proud of him.
The high-ranking Navy Marshal, who could have been angry with Usopp for being a pirate, instead took him under his wing and personally mentored him.
Overwhelmed by guilt, Yasopp, a sharpshooter who had dominated the New World for years, felt for the first time that the spear in his hand weighed a ton.
"Usopp..." he said hoarsely, managing to squeeze out the two words, his eyes reddening.
The father and son gazed at each other across a field of ruins, and time seemed to stand still at that moment.
On the other side, the atmosphere was much more relaxed.
"Hey! Lucky Roux! Remember me? I'm Monkey D. Luffy!" Luffy had already noticed the chubby man holding the giant elbow, and his mouth was practically watering. "Your meat looks delicious!"
Laki Ru paused for a moment, looking at the kid in the Straw Hat, then at the pork knuckle in his hand. He unusually stopped eating, grinned, tore off a large piece of meat, and handed it over. "Want some?"
"Yes!" Luffy took it without hesitation, stuffed it into his mouth, and mumbled a praise, "Delicious!"
Ben Beckman, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, scanned Luffy, Ace, and Sabo.
Of course he remembers Luffy.
When they stole the Gum-Gum Fruit from CP0, their intention was to prevent the "Legend of Nika" from recurring within the World Government.
But fate is truly wondrous.
They took every precaution they could, but they never expected Luffy to eat the Gum-Gum Fruit, and they certainly never imagined that Luffy would become a Marine.
When Beckman and Shanks first learned of this news, their idea was simple—to find Luffy and rescue him from the Navy's clutches.
However, they were still a step too late. When they went to the East Blue, they had to give up taking Luffy due to various unforeseen circumstances. But because of this missed opportunity, Garp brought Luffy into the Marine Headquarters, where he became a trainee Marine personally trained by Navy Marshal Akira!
Beckman watched Luffy with Lucky Roux for meat, then glanced at Yasopp and his son, who were standing not far away with Ace and Sabo, their expressions complex, and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
This world is no longer the world they used to know.
Akira's appearance completely overturned the established order. He also used his absolute strength to take charge of the Navy, carried out sweeping reforms of the World Government, and even brought the Celestial Dragons down from their pedestals.
Under such a man, Luffy, burdened with the "Nika destiny," might not necessarily be a bad thing.
A bold idea involuntarily surfaced in Beckman's mind.
When the "Sun God" within Luffy truly Awakening, will he be able to complement Marshal Akira, who is also dedicated to changing the world? Will he be able to propel this decaying world towards a brighter future?
Just then...
Morgan led his Marshal's personal guards onto the shattered island and came before Akira.
"Lord Marshal!"
After saluting Akira, Morgan immediately handed the Den Den Mushi Akira to him, saying, "The Gunzi Palace needs your help."
"Gunko?"
Akira blinked, then grabbed the Den Den Mushi and spoke first, "Gunko, why are you calling me at this hour? Could it be that Shanks, who's landed in the Holy Land, is causing trouble and making quite a commotion?"
"That's not the case," Gunko's voice came crisply through the Den Den Mushi, "We can handle such a small matter. The reason we contacted Lord Akira Yu is for another very important matter!"
After a slight pause, Gunko's voice suddenly took on a wary tone, "Lord Akira, is there anyone else with you? This matter is of great importance; we cannot let others overhear it!"
Akira glanced at Morgan and said simply, "Speak freely."
Before Gunko could speak, Morgan immediately turned and left with his personal guards.
As Marshal guard, even if the Lord Marshal, he naturally has to do his duty and resolutely refuse to listen to anything he shouldn't.
Unaware of the situation, Gunko cut to the chase, saying, "Recently, Lord Im's amnesia has worsened. To the World Government, Lord Im can forget everyone, but he absolutely cannot forget Lord Akira! Once Lord Im loses all memories related to Lord Akira, a great war may erupt between the two of you!"
"Hmm?" Akira frowned slightly and asked, "Imu suffers from amnesia?"
"It's not entirely amnesia; it's just that every so often, certain people and events are erased from Lord Im's memory."
Upon hearing this, Akira narrowed his eyes slightly, saying with interest, "There's actually such a thing. Don't be in a hurry, let Imu's memories fly for a while. I'll go to the Sphinx and be right back! Then we'll see if she's really lost some of her memories of me!"
