Background / History

The Sacred Master is an ancient, immeasurably long-lived protector of humanity whose true form is too powerful for the world to record. He is the third holder of the Sacred Master mantle; the first Sacred Master taught humanity to cultivate during the primordial chaos, while the second led human cultivators in opening the Upper Realm and Underworld and forming the Three Realms 163 351.

He founded Sacred Mountain and left future sword qi within Fú Sōng Mountain for a “fated person” capable of grasping it. An Le eventually inherited this sword qi, witnessing a future in which Jiangnan fell to war 99 100.

Sacred Mountain ordinarily does not interfere with the rise and fall of dynasties. The Sacred Master considers dynasties transient and reserves intervention for threats that violate larger rules, particularly those connected to Sacred Mountain’s enemies and the Immortals 163.

He created the Sacred Realm as a refuge and cultivation ground for cultivators unable to advance in the increasingly depleted Human World. Its dense spiritual energy allows advancement beyond the Tenth Realm, though its origin is weaker than those of the Three Realms because it lacks top-tier origins 241 341.

During the final crisis, the Sacred Master confronted the Saint Demon Emperor after the latter’s seal was broken. Recognizing that the evacuation of Human World cultivators to the Sacred Realm required time, he remained alone at the Human World Pass and expended his life resisting the Saint Demon army 440 441.

Appearance

The Sacred Master’s ordinary manifestation resembles a plain-clothed middle-aged man in his forties or fifties. Despite this unassuming appearance, observers struggle to remember his face, while his eyes hold the depth of a star-filled sky 163.

  • His true return can manifest as an unnameably colossal stellar figure whose descending foot appears capable of crushing the Human World 161.
  • His projected visage can cover the sky and look down upon the mortal realm 153 154.
  • Some appearances are only a wisp of his will or inextinguishable true spirit, surrounded by hazy white radiance 213 313.
  • During the war at the Human World Pass, he is depicted with white robes, white hair, and a white beard 423.

Personality

The Sacred Master is patient, insightful, and deeply knowledgeable about the Three Realms, the great cultivation factions, origins, and ancient history. He gives direct guidance but expects his disciples to choose and walk their own paths 163 361.

Though detached from mortal dynastic succession, he is fiercely protective of his disciples and the Human World. He openly challenges stronger cross-realm enemies who target An Le, destroys threats that could hinder An Le’s growth, and refuses to compromise with Saint Demons during a fair challenge 213 313 358.

He also has an informal, teasing side. He enjoys wine, jokes at the Second Master’s expense, and openly expresses delight in An Le’s potential and swordsmanship 163 359 361.

Abilities & Skills

Overwhelming Combat Power

The Sacred Master is regarded as the Human World’s pillar and is feared even by the Upper Realm’s top powers.

Sword Qi and Spatial Manifestation

His sword arts can persist across vast spans of time and distance.

  • Left future sword qi within the cliff face of Fú Sōng Mountain for a destined inheritor 99 100.
  • The inherited sword qi shows An Le a possible future war and Jiangnan’s fall 100.
  • His manifestation can be summoned through the combined consciousness array of the six Mountain Lords or through a Minor Sacred Token 153 154.
