Xiao Yao was born into the Xiao Family as Xiao Ran and An Yingjuan's son. An assassination attempt against his mother while he was still in the womb damaged his foundation, leaving him unable to cultivate through his childhood. He was consequently treated as a “good-for-nothing” despite holding the position of Young Clan Leader. His original Emperor-tier aptitude is later restored through foundation repair. 105 112 190

At age twelve, Xiao Yao awakens the Innate Chaos Body during the Immortal Ascension trial. The revelation overturns his reputation, compels the surrounding crowd to kneel, and leads Lotus Sword Emperor Dongfang Xuetong to claim him as her personal disciple. 5 6
