The moment Lynn passed through the wall at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, he sensed that something was wrong.
The familiar dizziness churned his stomach. It felt as though invisible forces were constantly tearing at him from all sides. Then, as if he had suddenly fallen from a high platform, he stumbled onto soft ground.
"Bang, bang" sounds rang out around him as his luggage rained down from the sky like dumplings dropped into a pot. The largest luggage cart landed right in front of Lynn's face, making him hastily step back.
Having experienced Apparition once before, Lynn thankfully did not throw up this time. He braced himself on his knees and dry-heaved a few times, then slapped his face with his cold hands before finally recovering from the dizzy spell.
After looking around, Lynn realized that he was standing on a small hill. Behind him was the sea, while scattered houses could be seen in the distance ahead, with a town even farther beyond them.
This was clearly no longer King's Cross Station. He was not even sure whether he was still in Britain.
The sound of waves crashing against the reefs came from behind him. Combined with the fading glow of the sunset and the peaceful town in the distance, it should have made for a beautiful scene.
But Lynn had no mood to admire it.
His face was as black as soot. There was no way the wall at the station had malfunctioned on its own, and even if it had, there was no way it would have happened to him by such a coincidence.
He had obviously been set up!
Lynn immediately began searching through his luggage, but he could not find his "pet." The cage Umr lived in had somehow been opened, and it had slipped
