With a furious roar, Sasuke moved to attack Danzo.
Shinji reached out and stopped Sasuke.
Sasuke said urgently, "Shinji, if we don't kill him now, he'll keep plotting against us in the future! If you're worried the Fifth will question you, let me do it. Even if I go to prison, I'm killing him today!"
Shinji said coldly, "Killing him ourselves would be letting him off too easily!"
"What?"
Sasuke stared at him for a moment.
Shinji didn't explain further. He waved for Nameless and Karin to step aside, then ordered the Konoha Ninja gathered nearby, "Danzo conspired with Orochimaru to kill the Third. As captain of the Konoha Military Police Force, I order you to arrest him at once!"
Danzo's expression changed. He looked around in alarm.
Nameless, Karin, and Sasuke also turned their gazes toward the Konoha Ninja, poised to strike at the slightest provocation.
The Intelligence Squad shinobi who had spoken with Shinji weighed his options, then stepped forward and said to Danzo, "Lord Danzo, please give up resisting! If you have any objections, you can raise them with Lord Hokage after she returns."
Danzo roared in fury, "You fools! Do you think Uchiha Shinji will let me live long enough to see Tsunade?"
The Intelligence Squad shinobi didn't answer—and didn't dare to. But the situation was clear. They had to side either with Uchiha Shinji, who had the advantage in both strength and position, or with Danzo, who was already doomed. There was no third option.
And if they sided with Danzo, they'd be starting a war against the Uchiha and the Konoha Military Police Force.
For a village already on the verge of collapse, such a battle was unthinkable. Otherwise, the village would be destroyed completely.
