Feng An and Hinata retrieved Hiashi’s stolen Byakugan from Toneri and returned to confront Akatsuki’s growing attacks and alliances. Hinata awakened the Tenseigan, while Feng An went to Sound Village to question Orochimaru and faced Kurenai and Orochimaru.

Arc 9Akatsuki’s Advance

Feng An rescued Jiraiya from Pain and Obito, then chose to leave Konoha with Hinata, Hanabi, and Matatabi to save Fū and confront the Akatsuki. The Akatsuki attacked Sunagakure, where Gaara fought to protect the village as reinforcements raced to help.

  • Tsunade asked Feng An to act as Hokage while she pursued Jiraiya, but Feng An sent a Wood Release clone to Amegakure and left his real body with Hinata.
  • Jiraiya confronted Pain’s Six Paths in Amegakure, and Feng An arrived in time to rescue him from Nagato’s Planetary Devastation.
  • Feng An clashed with Obito and Black Zetsu, rejected Obito’s offer to join the Akatsuki, and escaped with Jiraiya to the Land of Fire.
  • Jiraiya told Tsunade that the Akatsuki was led by Yahiko and Nagato, while Naruto left for Mount Myōboku to learn sage arts.
  • After learning that the Akatsuki had mobilized to capture the tailed beasts, Feng An told Hinata about Kaede’s danger, and she urged him to save her.

Arc 10The Tenseigan Pursuit

Gaara and the allied shinobi defeated Deidara and Sasori, while Toneri stole the Byakugan of Hiashi and Kō. Feng An and Hinata prepared to pursue Toneri, and Hinata received a catalyst from Hamura that might eventually awaken the Tenseigan.

  • Might Guy and Kakashi helped Gaara defeat Deidara, while Obito survived the explosion Kakashi sent into the Kamui Dimension.
  • Gaara, Kakashi, and Chiyo fought Sasori, and Chiyo killed him with the puppets of his parents before taking him home.
  • Feng An and Kaede defeated Hidan and Kakuzu at Takigakure, and Feng An burned Hidan’s head before disposing of both bodies.
  • Toneri attacked the Hyuga clan, defeated Hiashi and Kō, and took their Byakugan to try to awaken the Tenseigan.

Arc 11Moonfall and Mist Village

Feng An and Hinata traveled to the moon, destroyed Toneri’s Giant Tenseigan, defeated him, and recovered the Byakugan taken from Hiashi and Kō. After returning home and restoring Hiashi’s sight, they learned Akatsuki had allied with Ōnoki and planned to attack Mist Village.

  • Hamura warned Feng An and Hinata that Kaguya remained sealed on the moon, and Feng An sought Mount Myōboku’s help to find the passage there.
  • Gamamaru located the lunar passage in the Shinobi World’s coldest region, while his attempt to divine Feng An’s secrets made him spit blood.
  • Feng An trained in senjutsu at Mount Myōboku, then Jiraiya’s Hashirama Cells arm transplant succeeded and allowed him to summon Fukasaku.
  • Feng An and Hinata traveled through the passage to the moon, where Hinata destroyed the Giant Tenseigan and Toneri confronted them.
  • Feng An defeated Toneri with Sage Art: True Several Thousand Hands, then used Kotoamatsukami to make Toneri guard the moon and retrieved Hiashi’s and Kō’s Byakugan.
  • Hinata’s Byakugan began evolving toward the Tenseigan, and she and Feng An confessed their love before returning to the Hyuga Residence.

Arc 12Akatsuki Takes the Mist

Akatsuki seized control of Mist Village and secured the Four-Tails, while Feng An and Hinata discovered the power of her Tenseigan. After sparring with Naruto, Feng An traveled to Sound Village to question Orochimaru and was confronted by Kurenai and Orochimaru.

  • Pain and Akatsuki attacked Mist Village, defeated Mei Terumi’s defenders, and killed Ao.
  • Genji forced the Water Daimyo to provide resources, but the Daimyo later approved Pain’s plan and was killed by Pain’s Black Receivers.
  • Pain declared Mist Village an Akatsuki village, and Genji urged Mei Terumi to lead the village in place of the Daimyo.
  • Nagato returned to Cloud Village, took Roshi and the Four-Tails, and negotiated with Ōnoki to establish an Akatsuki branch there.
  • Hinata awakened her purple Tenseigan, and Feng An helped her test its abilities, including the Mind Sphere and Tenseigan Chakra Mode.
  • Tsunade told Feng An that Akatsuki had killed the Water Daimyo, and Feng An’s spar with Naruto ended when Naruto lost confidence at the sight of Feng An’s Wood Golem.
  • Feng An told Hinata that Akatsuki and Cloud Village had allied, then traveled to Sound Village to see Orochimaru.
  • Kurenai trapped Feng An with Crystal Coffin Jutsu, but he broke free and knocked her unconscious before evading Orochimaru’s sword attack and hearing Orochimaru declare him an ideal vessel.
