Background / History
The First Elder is a senior leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan whose decisions consistently prioritize the clan's long-term strength. After Yu Xiaogang's discovery of Whale Rubber, he supported granting the young man Soul Douluo-level resource treatment and devised a cover story that recorded the consumption under Sect Master Yu Yuanzhen's name, protecting Yu Xiaogang's standing within the clan. 28
He was initially strongly opposed to Yu Xiaogang studying at the Martial Soul Academy, fearing that Martial Soul Hall could win over the clan's most promising successor. Despite this suspicion, he personally guarded the ten-thousand-year Radiant Elemental Dragon intended for Yu Xiaogang's Third Soul Ring and had maintained correspondence with him since Yu Xiaogang obtained his First Soul Ring. 126
At level 88, the First Elder had been unable to advance for over two decades. Yu Xiaogang selected the Nine-Grade Purple Ganoderma for him, explaining that it could strengthen his foundation, stabilize Soul Power, and raise his cultivation limit. The herb enabled his direct breakthrough to level 90. 165 173
After learning that Spirit Rings could store Soul Power, he immediately began unlocking the function in his own rings. He viewed the discovery, his breakthrough, and the clan's Immortal Grade Herbs as signs that the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan could eventually surpass the Clear Sky Sect. 175
He later obtained his ninth Spirit Ring from the Red-Toothed Thunder Wolf, becoming the clan's second Titled Douluo. As Thunder Abyss Douluo, he intervened when Tai Shan and the Strength Clan threatened Yu Xiaogang, declaring the clan's retaliation against those who targeted its Young Sect Master. 232 295 296
Personality
The First Elder is intensely clan-oriented, pragmatic, and ambitious. He assesses people and resources according to whether they can secure the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's future, and he openly envisions the clan becoming the foremost of the Upper Three Sects. 126 175
His loyalty is not merely self-serving. Although a sixty-thousand-year Medusa skull Spirit Bone could have helped his own advancement, he wanted Yu Xiaogang to absorb it instead, believing the clan needed an absolute powerhouse more than another ordinary Titled Douluo. He ultimately accepted Yu Xiaogang's refusal on compatibility grounds and allowed the bone to go to Dugu Bo. 159 160
He is also cautious with consequential information. Upon learning that Yu Yuanzhen had gained an opportunity to inherit a Godhead, he ordered Lin Lang and Dugu Bo not to reveal it even to their own families. 190
