Power Classification

Mutant Beasts have numbered grades, but Beast King is a title, not a separate rank. It usually denotes an exceptionally powerful individual or group. Beast Kings are substantially stronger and longer-lived than ordinary Mutant Beasts 28.

Demonic Beasts and Transformation

• True Demonic Beasts acquire human form and cultivate human techniques. The process described in Great Xia requires abandoning their original cultivation realm and cultivating anew within the human system 456.
• Their beast bodies supply strength and vital energy several to dozens of times greater than humans; martial arts allow them to exploit those advantages more effectively 88.
• Human-form cultivation and original beast strength are not necessarily equal. The Nine Phoenix King appears as a Fifth-Grade Demonic Beast but reveals a Fourth-Grade Beast King true form 88 90.
• At Second Grade, Demon Kings can effectively combine both cultivation systems 489.
• Rakshasa’s shapeshifted beasts are different from true Demonic Beasts. Their widespread transformation is reportedly connected to the Fleeting Vermilion Flower, and they are much weaker than genuine Demonic Beasts 456.

Background / History

Mutant Beasts inhabit a separate world divided from Great Xia by the boundary wall. He Suling describes the relationship between the worlds as separate spaces colliding, pressing against each other, and merging. Human innate abilities and extraordinary martial powers began appearing over a thousand years earlier, before Mutant Beasts appeared 288.

Six hundred years before Jiang Li’s era, human-transformed demons infiltrated Great Xia during the Southeast “7.29 Beast Tide” incident. Their actions devastated Southeast Gorge Pass and allowed vast numbers of beasts into the country. Information about this infiltration is restricted because revealing it could provoke widespread panic 27.

Spatial rifts remain invasion routes. At Sacred Martial Mountain, the failure of a suppressing formation allows Fourth-Grade beasts to emerge from a channel connecting to the Beast World, where Huang Tuo is holding back an entire Beast Army 290.

Appearance

• No standard size or body shape: the underground arena selects beasts for imposing appearances, while wild specimens may be much smaller 28.
• Armored bodies: scales, carapaces, bone plates, spines, and unusually dense flesh appear across different species 30 45 48.
