Background / History

The Nine Heavens Martial Venerable is one of Daxia's foremost Martial Venerables and the master of Ji Qingyue. She presides over Kui Xing Training Camp and possesses enough authority to alter the college entrance examination by adding the Palace Examination, personally serving as its chief examiner. She also orders Li Taisui and Qin Kunpeng into the Beast Den as punishment for Bai He's death 121.

While assessing Jiang Li's examination results, she judges that the eighteen-year-old Grandmaster has the potential to become a Martial Venerable. Her thoughts subsequently reveal a hidden instability: she speaks as though another soul or will urges her to surrender to the Demon Kings and abandon humanity 121.

During the Palace Examination at Yan Mountain, she reveals herself while disguised as a young girl and confronts the Demon King Tengshe. She identifies that the examination has drawn out both lesser demons and a major threat, then fights Tengshe with her divine sword 134. After Tengshe's spatial attack transports her and Jiang Li to Yang City Mountain, she is gravely injured and her abnormal personality becomes dominant 136 137.

The Martial Venerable later attempts to kill Jiang Li on the Great Wall, believing his potential makes him an inevitable future threat. Jiang Li resists her Mysterious Bird Town Seal with the Human Emperor Physique and Heaven and Earth Fortune, but the clash is interrupted by the emergence of her alternate personality 148 149.

Despite their enmity, she awards Jiang Li the title of Daxia Martial Champion and personally obtains the SSS-Class Heaven Mending Technique for him. She considers this the politically advantageous choice for the Martial Emperor Hall and the examination's public legitimacy 218.

She later intercepts the Golden Winged Peng King and fights it at Qi Mountain, protecting Jiang Li despite treating him as a danger. The Peng King notes that she has left her post near a spatial passage, while she insists that its fate is her own concern 305 306.

She is also deeply prideful. Jiang Li's refusal to respect her, his rapid rise, and the existence of Xuanpin provoke intense hostility. When she judges Jiang Li too dangerous to leave alive, she attempts to eliminate him before he can become strong enough to retaliate 148.
