"The lower-class people are almost all in position." Just then, a cameraman leaned close to Teacher Slaughter's ear and spoke.
Only then did Teacher Slaughter pull himself out of his memories and look around the square.
It was the largest square, right in the center of Joyful Heaven Capital. He was standing roughly in the middle, with a clear view of the entire place.
He saw that all the lower-class people were already standing obediently in front of the ballot boxes.
There were two hundred lower-class people who had entered Joyful Heaven Capital. They stood with the ballot boxes around the edge of the central square, each several meters apart. Seen from directly above, they formed a huge circle enclosing the entire square.
The Upper Class had gathered in the center of the square to watch the show. A circular glass pavilion had been built around the giant screen, with seats for the Upper Class beneath it.
The show hadn't started yet, and most of the Upper Class who'd come weren't sitting properly in the audience section. Instead, they were wandering around, casting ill-intentioned looks at the lower-class people standing there.
The lower-class people had already been stunned by the place's splendor. They stood nervously behind their ballot boxes. Whenever someone from the Upper Class walked by, their backs would bend instinctively and their heads would bow low, as if afraid to be seen. All that showed on their faces was a lack of courage and ambition.
Teacher Slaughter raised his arm and glanced at his watch. "It's eight forty. The show officially starts in twenty minutes. Tell the sound technicians to turn on the speakers. The follow-cams can take off, too. And have the crew get those things in the sky ready..."
Things in the sky.
