When the cruise ship carrying Gu Mian and the others arrived at the variety show venue, the audience had already been waiting there for a long time.

As expected, the unreliable autopilot had malfunctioned, and the robot meant to serve as a backup had run into trouble too.

The cruise ship had been forced to stop halfway. Teacher Slaughter had then hurriedly found an Upper Class who could pilot the ship, and all the back-and-forth had cost them more than half an hour.

By the time Gu Mian and the others reached the area near their destination, the audience who had arrived early were already getting impatient.

As soon as the contestants disembarked, Teacher Slaughter rushed them toward the variety show venue.

The cruise ship's mooring was not far from the venue. A long red carpet connected the ship's exit to the entrance of the venue.

The venue had been converted from a stadium. Its exterior looked much like most stadiums on Earth: a gigantic ring, hollow in the middle.

From a distance, Gu Mian saw something jutting out from the hollow center of the stadium and pointing toward the sky.

Before he could get a closer look, Teacher Slaughter hurried them along. "Keep moving, keep moving. Don't dawdle."

The contestants had no time to savor the feeling of walking on the red carpet or admire the decorations lining it. They were herded inside the ring-shaped building like ducks being driven to market.

Beyond the entrance, another long red carpet stretched inside, surrounded by all kinds of baffling structures.

Gu Mian stared at the Ferris wheel not far away and fell into thought.

At last, the audience in the stands took an interest when the contestants finally arrived, and they turned to look toward the entrance.

They
