She had no choice but to turn her attention back to Li San. He really did seem different from the other Upper Class people, in both his mannerisms and the way he spoke.
He was like an actor who'd been pushed onstage without learning the script, awkwardly reciting his lines. Now that the audience had grabbed hold of him, he didn't try to explain at all. He only anxiously tugged at his clothes, trying to wrest them from their grasp.
It was obvious he wanted to leave the audience seating as soon as possible.
Seeing the sweat on his forehead and the increasingly anxious look on his face, 007 became even more certain that he was an Upper Class person in disguise.
Who was he, really? What had he come here for? 007 wondered without letting it show.
Teacher Slaughter certainly wouldn't let the argument continue. As the host, he'd lose face if a dispute broke out in the audience.
"Everyone, please calm down!" Teacher Slaughter spoke again in his usual confident tone. "We've only served one appetizer, and you're already getting impatient? Don't worry—the exciting part is still to come."
His expression was confident, and his voice rang with conviction, but inside, he was panicking.
He cursed the person who'd come up with the advancement rules, then hurried to move on with the proceedings.
