"Group Three landed on Tired Grid right at the start of the first round and lost a turn. They could act again in the third round after entering Tired Grid," Liu Ruyan recalled the first round. "The instance had just begun, and none of the four groups had lost anyone yet. The players had only just entered and weren't familiar with the place, so they hesitated a lot before making their moves. The Chess Masters and Chess Pieces in every group waited until the countdown was almost over before acting."

Under those circumstances, they lost a turn...

"Each round gives the Chess Master and Chess Piece a separate one-minute action countdown. In the first few rounds, each group's hesitation added up to a minute and a half. With four groups, that's six minutes per round, plus a one-minute break between rounds. After Group Three entered Tired Grid, the time its Chess Pieces spent there should have been two rounds plus two breaks, which comes to fourteen minutes." Liu Ruyan calculated how long Group Three's Chess Pieces had spent on Tired Grid. "Of course, this calculation isn't perfectly accurate, and there's bound to be some margin of error, but it couldn't be more than four minutes."

In other words, Group Three's Chess Pieces had spent more than ten minutes on Tired Grid from the very beginning. That didn't match the rules at all.

The game rules clearly stated that Chess Pieces weren't allowed to stay in a room for more than ten minutes. But the time they'd spent on Tired Grid had obviously exceeded the limit.

"Come to think of it, we should have noticed this mechanic with Tired Grid from the start." Liu Ruyan suddenly narrowed her eyes.
