Background / History
Before the Global Game, Qiao Chu was a household-name actress publicly known as Xiao Qiao. Her striking appearance made her instantly recognizable, though she was notorious for being airheaded and having little acting talent despite continually receiving roles. 14 16
She describes herself as an orphan. She knew Chu Changge and Xie Bian before the Global Game; after Xie Bian suffered an accident, she and the others believed he had died. 457
Xiao Qiao originates from Ragnarok, the Seventh World. She later reveals that recurring alarms in Ragnarok cause its ghosts to become especially dangerous for roughly three minutes. Lucky created Xiao Qiao as a guardian and sent her to Earth after the Seventh World was left without living people. 619 643 667 868
Appearance
Xiao Qiao is exceptionally beautiful and recognizable enough that even people unfamiliar with entertainment can identify her. Her celebrity face makes anonymity difficult, even when she wears a cap and mask. 437 438
- Often wears a vacant or blank expression, with her eyes slightly widened regardless of whether she is surprised, frightened, happy, or confused. 411
- Her beauty contrasts sharply with her blunt behavior and immense physical strength. 429 834
- Has worn a long red dress, including one borrowed from Xiao Hong. 505 560
Personality
Xiao Qiao is frequently perceived as airheaded, naive, and childlike. She can become absorbed in food, toys, or a single idea, imitates phrases without fully understanding them, and gives people unusual nicknames such as “scary glasses” for Chu Changge and “a string of numbers” for 007. 20 541 787
Her apparent simplicity conceals intense loyalty and a predatory decisiveness when Gu Mian is involved. She silently stalks threats, killed Bright Moon to stop her from overhearing Gu Mian's secret, and threatened a player who could not help Gu Mian escape a dungeon. 429 466 490
She also treats people and objects with an unsettling lack of distinction, sometimes throwing others—or potentially herself—without considering the consequences. 463
Abilities & Skills
Exceptional Physical Strength
Xiao Qiao possesses overwhelming raw strength despite her slight and celebrity-like appearance.
- Lifted a heavy vending machine to retrieve a coin. 411
- Threw a three-meter steel shelf aside with her bare hands. 429
- Can catch rats barehanded and dig through garbage without hesitation. 572
- Grabbed Teacher Slaughter one-handed, shook him in the air, and dragged him into an amusement park despite his resistance. 834
Guardian and World Recognition
Xiao Qiao can identify Guardians and determine the dungeon world they belong to at a glance.
- Recognized the disguised Xie Bian as Jiang Yang, the Guardian of the Slaughter Game's world. 542
- Distinguished the real Chu Changge from an impostor during the Dragon Boat Racing event. 609
- Sensed that someone was present in the abyss beneath the City of Inverted Sky despite the darkness. 908
Big Data Search
Xiao Qiao owns the Special Item [Big Data Search], a phone-like search device that locates targets based on entered terms.
- Used it to obtain information from someone who had previously entered a dungeon. 485
- Can locate ghosts within dungeons, allowing players to avoid them. 969
- Has used it to find mundane lost items and to track Gu Mian's whereabouts. 969
- Identified Gu Mian as a “Dungeon Admission Ticket” after searching that term. 844
Stealth and Pursuit
When focused on a target, Xiao Qiao can move silently and observe without being noticed.
- Hid in the darkness long enough to overhear Bright Moon and the fortune teller discussing Gu Mian. 429
- Followed Bright Moon with the focused, silent demeanor of a stalking predator. 429
Equipment / Items
- [Big Data Search] — A phone-like Special Item used for locating entities, objects, and information. 485 969
- Old radio from Ragnarok — A radio from the Seventh World that transmitted a mysterious voice and Ragnarok's alarm sound. 642 643
Relationships
- Gu Mian — Teammate and the person to whom she is most strongly attached. She initially offered to protect him, later defended his secrets and repeatedly sought to sleep near him. 20 466 620
- Chu Changge — Longstanding acquaintance and teammate. Both are orphans, and Xiao Qiao can recognize him even when an impostor replaces him. 457 609
- Xie Bian / Jiang Yang — A pre-Game acquaintance believed dead after an accident. Xiao Qiao recognized him immediately beneath his cloak and identified him as the Guardian of the Slaughter Game's world. 457 542

Story Role / Major Arcs
Early Global Game
Xiao Qiao meets Gu Mian during an early dungeon. Rather than fleeing, she stays with him and offers to protect him; the two then continue searching the location together. 20
After moving to the capital, she rapidly relays the Lianhua City police contact list to the capital's police on Gu Mian's behalf. 57
Death Pose and Dragon Boat Racing
In the Death Pose dungeon, Xiao Qiao demonstrates that her harmless image is misleading: she quietly stalks Bright Moon after overhearing hostile discussion about Gu Mian, and later kills Bright Moon to protect Gu Mian's secret. 429 466
Her fame becomes a strategic liability during the Dragon Boat Racing event, as her face is too recognizable to conceal reliably. She suggests using masks to hide the group's identities. 437 438
Seventh World Revelations
Xiao Qiao becomes visibly agitated when she encounters Xie Bian during the Gaokao event, eventually revealing that she knew him before his supposed death. 456 457
She identifies Ragnarok as the Seventh World and provides Gu Mian with information about its periodic alarms and dangerous ghosts. 619 643
After sleeping for ten days, she wakes with memory loss concerning Lucky, complicating Gu Mian's efforts to investigate the Seventh World's core figure. 667 668
Paradise and the Upper Class
During the Paradise rollback, Xiao Qiao communicates through the group chat in filmmaking terminology, repeatedly demanding that others “reshoot.” 769
She later disregards the Upper Class hierarchy entirely, capturing Teacher Slaughter and dragging him toward an abandoned amusement park to “play a game.” 834
Notable Quotes
“He can't get out. You won't live either.” 490
“It's regular. Every once in a while, this sound will ring... Whenever the sound rings, those ghosts become exceptionally terrifying.” 643
