Background / History

Garrison service

Wei Dayong served as the captain of the Anping County Garrison's Ding Team. During the Blood Tax incident, he reported the Corpse Puppets, the deaths of two men, and the Pig Demon's demand for five living offerings; Commander Chen ordered the matter concealed under threat of death. Wei subsequently led Wang Quan, Hou San, and five bound prisoners to the night sacrifice despite his injured left arm. 4 5

After Wang Quan survived the Pig Demon encounter, Wei Dayong helped restrain him when he continued hacking at the demon's corpse in a frenzy. Though severely wounded himself, he brought Wang Quan for medicine, protected him from Madman Xu's attempts to entice him into grafting Monster limbs, and offered to show him the Garrison Library. 6 8

Wei Dayong explained Madman Xu's past with unusual empathy, recognizing that the former pharmacist's self-mutilation stemmed from guilt and trauma rather than a simple desire for power. He also directed Wang Quan toward sources of information and resources, including the Ghost Market and Black Market, while warning him against the area's powerful Demon families. 9 14

Household and mentorship

Outside the Garrison, Wei Dayong lived with his wife, Sister Xu, and their daughter, Wei Lingling. He welcomed Wang Quan into their home, treated him as a younger brother, and later sheltered him when the Garrison displaced Wang Quan's team. 13 29

He supported Lingling learning martial arts despite Sister Xu's concern, believing that self-defense was essential in their world. He took visible pride in Lingling's training and was relieved that Wang Quan was willing to teach her seriously. 29

Wei Dayong used his Black Market connections to obtain help for Wang Quan and asked only that Wang Quan protect his wife and daughter if he failed to return. Wang Quan accepted the responsibility. 14

Capture and experimentation

When his daughter was endangered within the General of the Middle Army's territory, Wei Dayong forced his way inside to rescue her. He fought four skilled martial artists while revealing his Mortal Transformation Realm cultivation, but suffered a broken leg and severe wounds before being captured. 41

Mr. Yin used Wei Dayong as experimental material, draining his blood and subjecting him to a forced fusion of Tiger Monster Blood, a Nightmare soul, and a Black-striped Tiger's demonic heart. The procedure left him physically distorted, mentally unstable, and bound in runic shackles to contain his ferocity. 42 50

Fiend Demon rebellion

Released for testing, Wei Dayong tore apart his cage and emerged as a towering Fiend Demon. His regenerative body and relentless assaults initially failed to overcome Ox Ancestor Town Mountain, but his transformation continued to evolve. 51

After witnessing Lingling lose an arm, Wei Dayong's despair awakened the White Tiger Malevolent Body. He rejected the Four Great Demon Ancestors and Li Chongshan alike, declaring that he would kill the Ancestors before dealing with Li Chongshan. 54

Sister Xu intercepted the Demon-Slaying Blade meant for him and was fatally wounded. Her sacrifice destabilized Wei Dayong's Killing Intent and drove him further into grief and destructive obsession. 55 56

Wei Dayong fought the Demon Ancestors with suicidal ferocity, blinding Ox Ancestor Town Mountain in one eye and inflicting severe injuries across their ranks. He later devoured Leopard Ancestor Fenxue's skull before the remaining Ancestors sealed him with the Three Absolutes Seal Heaven Seal. 57 59 60

Wang Quan urged the defeated Wei Dayong not to surrender to despair, invoking Sister Xu's sacrifice. After the seal was destroyed, Wei Dayong and Sister Xu's body had vanished from the battlefield. 61 66

Appearance

Before his transformation, Wei Dayong was a burly, dark-faced Garrison veteran with an arrow scar on his face. He commonly wore a dark green tunic and carried a waist saber; even while badly injured, his eyes retained a cold, hardened intensity. 4 41

Personality

Wei Dayong initially presents himself as terse, stern, and emotionally guarded. The demands of Garrison service and the Blood Tax have made him practical and resigned, but he remains attentive to the people under his care. He gives Wang Quan direct advice, shares intelligence, and repeatedly helps him seek legitimate cultivation opportunities. 8 9 28

His demeanor changes completely around his family. He is affectionate and openly proud of Lingling, respects Sister Xu's care for their home, and considers Wang Quan part of the household. His request that Wang Quan protect them reveals that he expects danger but refuses to abandon his responsibilities. 13 14 29

Wei Dayong's defining trait is his willingness to endure pain for his daughter. This devotion drives him to challenge the General's territory, survive Mr. Yin's experiments, and eventually fight the Four Great Demon Ancestors without regard for his own life. After Sister Xu's sacrifice, that devotion curdles into grief, rage, and near-total self-destruction. 41 54 57 60
