Background

Wu Shifeng was initially the young master of the Wu family in Black Rock Town. During the Imperial Court’s investigation into the Dry Blood Forest incident, he detained Sun Houde under the guise of protection and attempted to use the Sun family’s half-demon bloodline to pressure Wang Quan into abandoning them. He activated Wu Manor’s formation and assembled hidden guards when Wang Quan refused. 97

His apparent confidence rested on a corpse-altered body that could absorb blade energy and resist overwhelming physical attacks. After Wang Quan tore off his arm and overwhelmed his regeneration, Wu Shifeng activated the blue stone embedded in his chest and became the Frost White Corpse. His Eternal Silence Frost Domain and ultimate move, Freeze Absolute, still failed to defeat Wang Quan. 98 99 100

Following his defeat, Wu Shifeng refused to beg for mercy even as his old steward revealed that congenital corpse poison had driven his desperate attempts to suppress his condition. He ultimately surrendered, confessed his crimes, and was spared by Wang Quan. 101 102

Afterward, Wu Shifeng became a leading figure in the Tongze Alliance, a resistance organization sheltering displaced common people and opposing the Imperial Court’s oppressive order. A hidden message found after his disappearance describes his rebellion as a response to the world’s injustices. 123 153

He was nearly erased by the Calamity of Paper Transformation in the Withered Blood Forest, but Wang Quan used the True Meaning of Destruction to restore him to human form. The rescue left Wu Shifeng’s Origin severely damaged. 143 153

Appearance

Wu Shifeng is a weathered martial leader whose appearance changed drastically after his original corpse transformation. By the time of the Withered Blood Forest campaign, he bears a prominent facial scar and wears practical, battle-worn equipment. 342

  • Usually wears a faded gray combat uniform, damaged leather cuirass, and a cloth-tied hairstyle. 342
  • Has a savage scar running from his left brow to the corner of his mouth. 342
  • In his Frost White Corpse form, his skin becomes cold, porcelain-pale ice jade, while frost forms in his hair. 99
  • His corpse form can regrow severed limbs and exposes metallic, corpse-like bones beneath damaged flesh. 99
  • His later altered power manifests as dark-gold and blood-red energy, sometimes accompanied by bloodshot eyes and inhuman pressure. 358 361

Personality

Wu Shifeng initially presents himself as polite, charitable, and concerned for the Sun family’s safety, but this facade conceals a calculating willingness to exploit their bloodline and the Imperial Court’s laws for his own advantage. When cornered, he is proud, cruel, and unwilling to appear weak. 97 98

His defeat changes neither his pride nor his refusal to accept humiliation. Even while facing execution, he orders his steward to stop pleading for his life and accepts responsibility for the consequences of his actions. 101

As leader of the Tongze Alliance, Wu Shifeng is resolute, protective, and deeply affected by the suffering of ordinary people. He repeatedly chooses to remain with endangered subordinates rather than escape, assumes risks intended for others, and treats the survival of the alliance’s civilians as his personal responsibility. 153 354 370 390

Abilities & Skills

Corpse Body

Wu Shifeng’s original altered body possesses abnormal resilience and regenerative properties.

  • Absorbs and dissolves blade energy on contact. 98
  • Possesses bones and internal structures durable enough to withstand Wang Quan’s strikes. 98
  • Regenerates damage and can continue fighting through pain and severe wounds. 99
  • Emits Corpse Fiend aura that can erode an opponent’s flesh and blood. 99
  • His regeneration has limits; Wang Quan’s successive attacks eventually outpaced it. 99

Frost White Corpse

By pressing a blue stone into his chest wound, Wu Shifeng enters a more powerful corpse state. 99

  • Forms an ice-jade body with a newly regenerated arm. 99
  • Controls an extreme-cold field known as the Eternal Silence Frost Domain. 100
  • Can freeze the battlefield and release the ultimate technique Freeze Absolute. 100
  • The form costs him his human appearance and suppresses his emotions. 99

Earthfire Techniques

Wu Shifeng channels earth-yellow energy into formations and heavy attacks.

  • Earthfire Trapping Dragon—Burn — Splits his sword into seven phantom blades that form a binding formation around a target. 344
  • Fiery Rain — Uses Essence Blood to call down a dense barrage of molten meteors upon a trapped enemy. 344
  • The combined technique can severely injure or kill ordinary mid-to-late Core Condensation Realm demonic beasts, but leaves Wu Shifeng severely depleted. 344
  • Mountain Suppression Seal — A powerful two-handed palm technique used to intercept a massive blood construct. 358

Formation Expertise

Wu Shifeng is capable of organizing, studying, and reinforcing formations.

  • Activated Wu Manor’s defensive formation during his confrontation with Wang Quan. 97
  • Uses rune-carved bone chips and divine sense to investigate a formation’s structure and energy flow. 352
  • Reinforced the Demon-Suppressing Golden Light Formation into three layers of black coffin walls during the Nightmare Demon crisis. 391
  • Concealed black arrows within the destroyed formation and used them to create an opening against the possessed Wang Quan. 391

Altered Flame

Wu Shifeng can burn the impure power and resentment within his body as a three-colored flame.

  • The flames are gold-red, ghastly white, and ink-green. 361
  • They incinerate evil vines and Treant Demons with unusual effectiveness. 361
  • Using them aggravates his injuries and blood poison. 362
  • He used this power to intercept a black-robed attacker’s strike aimed at Wang Quan. 362

Leadership and Battlefield Command

Wu Shifeng leads from the front and maintains discipline under extreme pressure.

  • Directs circular defensive formations, coordinated attacks, and retreat procedures. 343 354 355
  • Orders his people to avoid blood sacrifices and personally assumes dangers involving blood-guided phenomena. 354
  • Prioritizes civilian evacuation even when facing the Nightmare Demon-possessed Wang Quan alone. 390

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Longsword / heavy-backed chopper — His primary melee weapons, used with earth-yellow blade energy. 342 354
  • Blue chest stone — A faint-blue, vein-patterned stone used to activate his Frost White Corpse transformation. 99
  • Rune-carved bone chips — Used alongside divine sense to probe formations. 352
  • Demon-Suppressing Golden Light Formation — A damaged ancient formation restored and employed by the Tongze Alliance to contain the possessed Wang Quan. 390 391

Relationships

  • Wang Quan — Initially adversaries after Wu Shifeng detained Sun Houde; Wang Quan defeated and spared him. They later became trusted allies who repeatedly protected one another. 97 102 143 370 392
  • Sun Qingyao — Wu Shifeng attempted to keep her and her father in Wu Manor after exposing their half-demon bloodline. 97
  • Sun Houde — Detained in Wu Manor while ostensibly cooperating with the Imperial Court’s Dry Blood Forest investigation. 97
  • Old Steward / Uncle Wu — A loyal retainer who pleaded for Wu Shifeng’s life, remained with him after his defeat, and continued serving the Tongze Alliance. 101 102 124 153
  • Tongze Alliance members — His followers regard him as a leader worth dying for; he repeatedly refuses to abandon them. 153 354 390
  • Nightmare Demon — The entity possessing Wang Quan’s body during the Bedrock Valley crisis; Wu Shifeng fought it to save both Wang Quan and the valley’s residents. 389 390 392
