Background / History

Yu Dian is a 24-year-old university graduate who had been living alone in a cramped, windowless rental room. With no family support or living expenses during university, she took various part-time jobs, including writing promotional articles, to support herself. Her parents are deceased. 13 14 43 50

She applies for Anju Hotel's front-desk cashier position after calling Cheng Yun. Nervous enough to tear down and bring the recruitment notice with her, she initially doubts whether she meets its requirements. Cheng Yun hires her and teaches her the hotel systems and work procedures. 12

After starting work, Yu Dian moves into the hotel with only a small amount of luggage and an old laptop. Cheng Yun temporarily gives her room 311—the presidential suite—until the staff dormitories are ready; she later chooses the eight-bed female dormitory with Yin Dan as her staff quarters. 14 47
