Background
Mu Ningxue is Mu Zhuoyun's daughter and originates from Bocheng. She initially views marriage pragmatically, believing her future partner should be acceptable to her family and beneficial to her father, who raised her and supported her cultivation 7 10.
Her childhood was shaped by the Ice Crystal Brake Bow's fragments. Her mother forcibly fused a fragment into her body, leaving her vulnerable to an Ice Nightmare-like backlash and forcing her to continually become stronger rather than live normally 22 72 207. After the Bocheng calamity, Mu Zhuoyun's family relocated to the Imperial Capital, where Mu Ningxue gained recognition from the Mu Clan and received additional bow fragments through Pan Xi 22.
Chen Lang later reveals that she was not the bow's original owner and that the bow's formation harmed others. The knowledge leaves her conflicted, as she benefited from a power whose origins were not hers to choose 72. She eventually learns to treat the bow and the Ice Nightmare as power she must master rather than merely endure; the gradual return of dark strands to her silver hair signals progress 207.
Appearance
Mu Ningxue is a striking silver-haired woman with an icy, distant bearing. Her appearance is repeatedly associated with snow, frost, and cold light, reinforcing the impression created by her Ice Magic 3 13.
- Long silver-white hair, often described as falling to her waist 13.
- Pale, translucent complexion and clear, aloof eyes 13.
- Her hair was originally deep ink-black; dark strands begin reappearing as she gains control over the Ice Nightmare's power 207.
- Her presence is accompanied by noticeable cold air as her Ice Element cultivation grows 115 185.
Personality
Mu Ningxue is reserved, disciplined, and difficult to approach. She rebuffs unwanted advances without unnecessary hostility and devotes most of her time at the Academy to cultivation rather than socializing 4 62 76. Although outwardly cold, she is attentive to people she cares about, such as warning Mo Fan about Yu Ang and worrying when Chen Lang returns injured 11 76.
Her desire for strength is rooted in necessity as much as ambition: failing to improve risks further backlash from her ice-based condition. This pressure makes her persistent, competitive, and unwilling to become a burden to Chen Lang 10 67 72.
Over time, she becomes more emotionally open with Chen Lang, trusting his judgment on matters such as cultivation and Nan Rongni's character 97 105. She also develops political awareness and leadership ambitions, proposing an alliance with the weakened Dongfang and Mu families rather than attempting to make them subordinates 288.
Abilities & Skills
Ice Element Magic
Mu Ningxue's primary element is Ice, empowered by her Companion Spirit Seed and later by the Ice Crystal Brake Bow.
- Casts Ice Lock rapidly enough to bind multiple opponents at the start of a match 70.
- Creates defensive Ice Walls and Ice Mirrors, including Ice Mirror – Ten Thousand Locks Restraint 101 115.
- Forms large numbers of ice spikes through her Domain, allowing her to attack from multiple directions 101.

Mu Ningxue touches upon an Ice Domain while still an Intermediate Mage and achieves advanced control earlier than normal.
- Her Domain lowers the temperature across the battlefield, produces snowfall, and generates ice spikes around her position 101.
- She gains control over her spells before reaching High-level, allowing her to cast Ice Magic outside rigid textbook patterns 72.
- Her early control gives her an advantage in shaping terrain, restraining enemies, and sustaining area-wide pressure 72 101.
- Her Domain was initially restricted during her exchange match against Pearl Academy so she could develop without relying on it 68 72.
Ice Crystal Brake Bow
The Ice Crystal Brake Bow is bound to Mu Ningxue's soul and Ice Element. Its fragments and power are closely tied to her physical condition and cultivation path 22 72 223.
- The bow stabilizes the Divine Seal Praise energy retained within her Ice Star River 223.
- It enables powerful long-range Ice attacks, including the Ice Blade Storm that defeats Heidi 102.
- At the finale, she draws an enormous Ice Arrow whose cold makes even the surrounding void tremble 464.
- Her incomplete control of the bow makes prematurely awakening a third element dangerous; doing so could trigger Ice Element backlash and prevent her from cultivating the new element properly 97.
Wind Element Magic
Mu Ningxue's secondary element is Wind.
- Breaks through to Intermediate Wind Magic, establishing her as a dual-element Intermediate Mage 27.
- Uses Wind Blades against Heidi's attacks, though interference from Heidi's Sound Magic limits her casting 101.

- Reaches second-level High-level magic in both her Ice and Wind elements by the World Academy Competition 209.
